  • Water....is there such a thing as too much?

I know others have brought up this subject and people have given their opinions but noone has actually answered the question:

Can drinking too much water affect weight loss?

Has anyone heard anything about his or does anyone have any information about this?

According to my weight I should be drinking 94 oz of water a day but I drink more than that.

One more thing. I'm new here. Should I have posted my question under the topic: WATER QUESTION instead of starting a new topic?

I don't think the problem with drinking too much is a weight loss issue, but it might have negative effects if it "flushes" nutrients and electrolytes out of your body. The reason that distance runners switch between water and gatorade, or swallow those gel packs, is because they need to replace their electrolytes that they're losing through sweat. Unless you're drinking a ton of water and NOT eating food, you shouldn't have a problem. That's probably not the scientific answer that you're looking for, but that's the best I've got.

Oh right. I forgot about nutrients and electrolytes. Yes, that makes sense. That's why water retention pills are good for you long term.
