I have a quick question regarding the Ketostix. I know not to count on them for my weight loss, but I am always in the darkest color. Is that a bad thing?? I am drinking lots of water also.

Misty, the darkness of the ketostix doesn't matter. It matters more that the ketostix shows some colour, any colour because that shows you are in ketosis. There are some of us where ketostix doesn't change colour but we are clearly in ketosis because we can smell in our breath and urine. As Susan says, ketostix shows presence of ketones in your urine and it could be that you've just eaten meat. Please read these stickies regarding ketostix usage and colour, posted by Perry and Elleth

I only felt frusterated every time with those stupid stix! I am a perfectioniast anyway so I was freaking if there was only a bit color. Still I was losing.
I finally threw the whole bottle of stix out. Now I do much better and am not fixated on seeing how many ketones I was peeing!highest weight 250 (9 months PG with 1st child)

Good for you mama for recognising that using the sticks might have upset you and ditched them. We see many posts from people who gave up because of poor results with them :sadblinkyOriginally posted by 1sexy_mamaI finally threw the whole bottle of stix out. For anyone who is getting frustrated by either the sticks or the scales - please think about limiting your use of them to confirm your progress - if you follow the plan, drink your water and exercise you WILL be successful :joyWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I range from light pink to dark purple with the sticks and I've never been able to figure out what makes them different colors. Someone on this site once said that the darker it was, the more dehydrated you are, but I drink a gallon of water a day, everyday, so I don't think that was it. Meanwhile, my DH has lost 30 pounds and the sticks have never turned color for him!Chriss Female 246/236/160 5'3"

The darkness of the colour just means there are more ketones present in your urine at the time you used it - THAT'S ITt. It's not really an indication of how much fat you are burning, as you could've just eaten meat and released more ketones.
You have 2 choices:
1. Don't use ketostix because they aren't 100% reliable
2. Use them as an indication that you are still in ketosis but disregard the colour because even if it is a very pale pink, you are still in ketosis the same as someone with a darker colour results.30yo F 5'5 (166cm)
