Hi all- I am in my 4th week of extended induction. My total weight loss so far is 17 lbs since May 2, 05. I am constantly on here looking at topics and I look at peoples stats. I notice some people lose double what I have in 2-3 months. Am I behind or doing something wrong? My co-worker says I should not eat bacon bc that is too fattening. Can you guys tell me am I doing okay or should I expect more? Thank you- I guess I just need some reassurance.

I haven't been on Atkins that long to really answer your questions but I have read in other posts that after the 2nd or 3rd week the weight loss decreases dramatically..you have to just tough it out and stick with it and the scale will begin to move....
AND you can't compare your weight loss with that of others (even if you have similar stats).. I think there are different rates of metabolic resistance which determine how fast one can lose weight...don't give up...you are doing great!!!

Well, if you divide your 17 pounds by 6 weeks, you're losing 2.8 pounds a week on average. That's pretty kick butt. Now I understand more probably came off the first couple weeks, but even a pound a week is respectable, and healthy.
There are things you can do: Do you use fitday to track your food? That's a lifesaver for me. Make sure you're not experiencing carb creep, be diligent when counting your carbs. Avoid sugar alcohol's because the tend to be wicked stallers, drink plenty or water and exercise.Female/45/5'5

I agree, don't get worried. If you're eating you're eating only off the acceptable food list, eating around 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs, drinking all your water and exercising you will see results. Patience is really a virtue on this woe. And you've already lost 17 pounds! That's fantastic!

Thank you guys very much, I just started exercising yesterday so maybe that will make a difference. I need to pay attention to the 65/30/5 ratio.
Good Luck everyone and your support is what keeps me going!!!http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...rejune1801.jpg

Remember a lot of folks here have ALOT more to lose than you do, the bigger you are the faster the pounds come off. You can only measure your losses by you. Expect to lose between 1-2 pounds a week and not necessarily predictabley. You may not lose for three weeks then one day you wake up 4 pound lighter. Seriously no need to get discouraged.

Re: Help- I am getting discouraged
I started on May 1st, 2005, and I've only lost 14 pounds, so 17 pounds to me seems like it would be wonderful! ( and I have a lot more weight to lose)...Originally posted by saraa281Hi all- I am in my 4th week of extended induction. My total weight loss so far is 17 lbs since May 2, 05. Life is all about who we compare ourselves to, isn't it? :nod

You're fine
:joy :joy
Just remember everyone is different. Bacon is not "bad" but if it has nitrates it may slow you down. Fat is not the enemy. People who don't understand this WOE simply have preconceived ideas of what it is all about.
I started May 1st. My weight loss has been 23lbs.

we lose approx 10lbs a month after the first month of induction... this varies based our on water intake and exercise but always at least 10lbs and sometimes as much as 15. OH! and we eat bacon... in our salad, with our chicken (like a chicken/cheese/mushroom/bacon/ranch combo)... just dont go with a pound at a sitting ... it's our resolve that you can eat it but just use common sense.Him 29, 5' & 5.5" Start Date 9.29.04

I have also been doing Atkins since May 1st and have lost 17 lbs. I feel like I am at a standstill lately. I am getting impatient and that's why I have considered the "Fat Fast", but after reading the responses I got to it, maybe it's not for me. I was on another msg board and they were showcasing a woman who was in a plateau for 9 months! But she was strong and kept it up. Now THAT'S inspiration for us all! I will just keep plugging along and keeping the faith.
Best wishes to all...Start Date 5/07/05
