I'm glad my scale is broken. I will now depend on measuring myself. Do anyone feel that inches lost are better and why?

I haven't weight yet at 20 days after re-inducting. But I swear last night my love handles suddenly shrunk down to almost non-existant and my tummy shrunk. I will eventually weigh myself because I've been making a mini-goal schedule with something I want tied to each goal.

I would always go for inches rather than pounds lost :yes
No-one can see your weight but all can see your body getting slimmer!!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I think
Hey there :dancingb:
I keep on being told that....something looks different. Most people think I have done something with my hair (my hair hasn't changed since the beginning of April). I think my face is looking thinner but the body fels the same. No loose clothing yet.

I have lost a lot of inches, but for some reason the scale still matters to me. I can't believe that I have lost almost 6 inches off of my waist in 5 months and 6 inches off of my butt, but the scale still matters.
That's how I determine what my mini goals will be. I think once I get closer to my goal weight, it may not matter as much, but for right now, unfortunately it still does.
I only measure myself once a month, but I am one of the ones that weigh myself every day in the morning. I realize that weight goes up and down depending on various factors, but I still find myself getting up first thing in the morning and weighing myself.

That is the reason you are noticing inches lost rather than pounds.Originally posted by DebbieYI only measure myself once a month, but I am one of the ones that weigh myself every day in the morning.
I bet if you were to reverse that you would be seeing no inches lost but pounds!!
As long as you can live with seeing no change or even a gain without getting upset there is no reason to stop weighing every day - BUT the first time you feel yourself getting uptight about it that is when you ought to reconsider and cut down your weighing to maybe once a week or month.
Why put yourself under extra pressure by risking disillusion and temptation to throw in the towel? Better to stay in ignorance of your current weight and stick to the plan than see a gain and give up :hugWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I realize that weighing yourself every day is frowned upon, but at this time in my life, it's working for me. I like to be able to see it go up and down. (Although I would much rather see it go down.) :yes
I realize that weight fluctuates and I realize that although I may not see the scale move every day or may even go up at times, I like to be able to see what's going on. I have a goal weight that I would love to hit before the end of the year. Just because I check every day and may get frustrated, it wouldn't be enough for me to chuck the whole diet because I didn't see any pounds move for a few days. I think losing almost 50 pounds in 5 months is enough motivation to keep me going.
I know that if I'm not losing pounds, then I'm more than likely losing inches. And I also realize that a stall is 3 weeks without losing inches or pounds. So, at times when I see the scale go up 1/2 a pound or so, I just ask myself if anything different happened during the days before the weighing. Did I drink the water I needed to drink? Did I eat enough vegetables? What time of the month it is? How stressed I've been? Did I exercise? And such like that. It can motivate me to make sure to relax, if I'm stressed. To drink more water if I didn't drink enough the days before. To eat more vegetables or just to wait to see what the next few days will bring.
I realize that it may not work for everyone, but it works for me.
With measuring myself, I never really rely on those stats since I'm never positive if I'm measuring in the exact same spot I measured before. Even the measurements at my waist, in which I always measure at my belly button make me wonder if they are precise. Did I suck in or stick my stomach out a little to make sure I wasn't sucking in my gut? So, for me measuring the inches has the same variables that weighing myself has. Both rely on the person's ability to realize that they aren't an exact and that it relies on the person's understanding that mistakes can happen and that different factors can contribute to the results.

For some reason, I've only lost a pound this past week, rather than the great 5lb 5lb then 3lb. I got a bit down getting off the scale until I measured myself and found I've lost a good few inches. But I've started to restrict myself to weighing - and measuring - myself only once a week - I used to be a real scale slave in the bad old days, and when I didn't lose then I'd more likely "cheer" myself up by eating something forbidden.

We kept a journal for a long time and i'm thinking we need to get back to that... basically we weighed ourselves twice a week (saturday & wednesday) and took measurements every 2 weeks... I think we both looked forward to measurement day rather than weight day ... it was just so amazing to see the transformation.
If you are doing weight training along with the diet sometimes you gain muscle which weighs more than the fat... so when you think you aren't losing anyway weight... you are really just gaining muscle... it was also during this type of scenario that I was really glad we were measuring inches and weight.
