Went to a family party yesterday, my brother & family was visiting from Minnesota. I had some shrimp and some chicken. My sister told me she had made potato salad that I used to love, I said thank you! But didn't eat any, the thank you was enough, I don't think she noticed that I didn't eat any. I sat at a table with all of the desserts sitting right in front of me, I could smell them, yet I wasn't even tempted to eat them, I felt no emotional pull towards them, nothing. It's so strange! When I was on a lowfat diet, just seeing dessert could send me over the edge, I would feel so depressed and deprived, I would actually morn the loss of that dessert. Getting the sugar completely out of my diet has ended that vicious cycle, I don't want it anymore.
Another cheatless party!

Way to go Chris! :clapping
I hear ya on the dessert thing. I was at a cookout last weekend, and it was the same situation. All of the desserts were on the picnic table where I was sitting. My cousins were eating them and passing them around, but I wasn't even tempted. There was one thing that looked good, but it was more of a curiosity thing, like I just wanted to know what it tasted like. I said to one of my cousins, "Will you taste that and tell me what it's like?" and she said she already had a piece and it wasn't that good. That was the end of that craving!!!
Here's to slaying that sugar demon... :whip

Congratulations. I agree, if you plan ahead for things that you might be tempted with...then you have won the battle. I truely think that is the key to this and any weight loss success. Good work.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

It's times like this you have to ask yourself "why is life so unfair?". haha. I know the results are rewarding, but sometimes I just sit and ask myself "why me?". Why do I have to struggle, and deprive myself of the things I enjoy? Why can't I just eat in moderation and maintain a healthy weight? But then I realize it's because I have not led a life of moderation in the past and have in turn made myself overweight by endulging. So, heres to getting to our goal weights and then.... HAVING A BITE OF THAT POTATO SALAD!
I say hey, when I reach my goal... I'm going out to dinner and yes, I am going to order desert! So what if I gain 3 or 4lbs back... we all know how to maintain healthy lifestyles... so whats a treat every once in a while!
CONGRATS on doing so well.

Kelbel28, life is so unfair! What's really unfair is that I'm a fat person in a family of skinny people who say to me all the time...why can't you eat in moderation, get some exercise and lose that weight??? I always told them before, I don't know why diets don't work for me, but this time, it's different!Chriss Female 246/236/160 5'3"
