  • Not enough carbs?

    :help
I use fitday and have been slowly losing. I noticed my carb count for the day is 11 or 12 grams. Along with the other things I eat on extended induction i have 2 cups salad (Romaine) and a veggie for dinner. How can I up my carbs?

Also, my fat percentage is high -- around 80% :yikes per day. I cook my eggs in a little butter, mayo on snack, and 3T salad dressing and put a pat of butter on my dinner veggie. (Maybe I should cook my eggs in PAM?)

Also, my protien count is so low!! 11-22% per day, but when I check other peoples menus they dont eat as much meat as I do. Whats up with that?

I understand that the numbers dont have to be exactly 65%-30%-5% but I'd say my numbers are wayyy one way or wayyy the other.

I realized cheese stalls me BIG time! So no more for me!

This is what I eat most days:

    Breakfast:
    3 eggs fried in butter
2 Revolutionary rolls (1/2 carb per roll)

    Snack:
    2 Bubba Burgers
    mayo

    Lunch:
    2 cups Romaine lettuce
1 cup leftover meat from the night before (or 1 can tuna)
    Sometimes 7 green olives

    Dinner:
    Meat (different every night)
    Veggie

I'm not a late night eater.

So my questions are: How do I increase my carbs, and increase my protien? I can always eat more protien, but dont you think I eat enough? I just dont know how to increase my carbs.

I'd say add some cheese and more veg to get your carbs up. I added turkey breast (thin cut from deli) and I make lettuce wraps with all of the usual sandwich stuff and the turkey gets my protien percentage up.

Bummer! What about avocado? You get some carbs and it's sure as yummy as cheese. I'm pretty sure that was one of the allowed 'fruits' on induction.

          Hi Cheryl! :wave
Have you considered moving to OWL? If you only add 5g of carbs from veggies, you'll still be under the 20g limit, so psychologically you can still think of yourself as eating at Induction levels. Plus, you don't need to eat the extra 5g every single day, but it's nice to have that option. And, you could stay at rung 1 for a long time before adding anything else.

Personally, I got to the point where I felt that the 3 cups of veggies per day was too restrictive. I like having a huge *** salad and not having to worry that I've put more than 2 cups of lettuce in there. It's also nice to have veggies for snacks, like celery & cream cheese, or a bowl of cole slaw, without having to carefully ration out your veggies during lunch & dinner only.

Move to OWL. It's probably time. Another poster just moved to OWL and started losing again.

Or eat some nuts. Nuts will give you carbs and protein in one convenient package. Almonds and macadamias are the best tho almonds are much less expensive.

I was on Atkins last year for 7 months and only lost 17 pounds eating 3-4 oz of cheese per day. This time around I was eating the exact same thing I was eating last year and lost 14 pounds and then my weight loss stopped for 2.5 months until I gave up cheese. I immedietly lost 4 pounds and then another 2. So I figured it was the cheese. :yikes I wont touch the stuff now.

interesting, How about Motzerrela(sp?) the other option of cheese that you can eat thats yeast free. If its dairy thats holding you back, you might want to skip that rung of OWL. UNless you want to see if its all Dairy...then again, I don't think you want another stall lol.

also, Forgive me if my questioning came off as rude. Its just I see alot of people who freak out if they haven't lossed for a week and start picking the diet apart.

Personally, you're doinge extended induction. Why do you want to up your carbs? 20 grams of net carbs is the maximum on induction, not what you must eat. The important thing is the three cups of veggies. With your fat intake being that high, I'm not sure if I would add avocado which contains a lot of fat. I don't understand how your fat is so high just based on that little bit you posted. Maybe cut back on butter a bit.

When I need to increase my protein consumption, I usually just eat more chicken, or fish. Seems to work for me!
