it seems like this happens every time my cupboards are getting bare...hardly enough food to last until the end of the week, so instead of cheating, I just eat a bunch of crap...not meals, but just...cheese, pepperonis, snack foods...I haven't gained, but I haven't lost...I figure this is better than not eating at all or eating all the freaking pizza my fiance has in the freezer. I don't know WHY I am going through food so fast, I am not over eating...I really really need to do better at the store this week and buy enough food...I always seem to think I have plenty, but 3-4 days before the next trip I find myself with random odds and ends...cheese, pepperonis, mayo, just random crap. This is another reason I ahve wanted to stay on extended induction...there are always those 3-4 days when I haven't been able to eat balanced meals and I feel like I'm cheating even though I'm not technically cheating...It's like I feel like I'm starting over every time I come back from the store.

dont stress it.. there are a lot of factors other than your consumation of food! drink lots of water.. have some hot sauce, do more cardio.. and youll be dropping fat like they dropped michaels charges

I know the feelings you are having. Its like you'd rather not eat at all then risk cheating in any sense.

The best way to look at it is as a learning experience. Learn what foods you consume the most and stock up more than usual. Took me a while to get a ahole of it too.

I would always run out of eggs and veggies....but have plenty of Mayo, mustard and cheese.

Maybe stock up on some cans of veggies(green beans, pumpkin, or whatever you like) and some cans of tuna or chicken to keep in the pantry.

....buncha thoughts going thru my mind (it's early - my mind is scattered!)

There's a dollar store near me that actually sells eggs. 99 cents a dozen, and they are fresh. I buy 5 cartons and save a bunch. It really helps in the egg dept!

I know, it's really expensive and when you're on a budget, it's difficult to keep enough of the foods around. The other day, I found drumsticks on sale for 69 cents a pound and bought about 50 of them, roasted them, and stuck them 2 at a time in ziplocks and put them in the freezer, 'cause I know I am going to run out of meat.

I wish they sold cream in larger containers!

Is there a farmers market near you? Veggies are cheaper there....

No farmers market...I'm not too good with fresh veggies anyway...I have this problem with sharp objects...lol. I think I accidently cut myself once a month as it is, so I try to steer away from anything like that. I have had more kitchen injuries since starting this WOE than I have had in a while, lol. It's not reallly that I have this budget WHEN I shop...it's that I get one shot at it, because if I don't buy everything then, then the money will be gone. It's just very very difficult to buy atkins stuff for 2-2 1/2 weeks. I always think "ok this time I DEFINITELY have enough!" but I never fail to run out.

I have tinned fish with salad several times a week. its pocket friendly and travels well and theres omega thingies. I've discovered I don't like tuna but mackerel or salmon is good.

I'd say check out your local sam's club, great deals on food. Some are in bulk of course, and some are not.

Since much of the food is designed for restaruants, it seems a suprisingly good fit for Atkins. Lots of beef and chicken for example, eggs ($1.02 for 18!), Heavy cream (1 quart, $2.52 vs $4.89 at the grocery store), spices in large quantities, and great price on Splenda.

Oh...I get it. So, here's what you should do:

Every two weeks, take TWICE the amount of money out. Keep cash handy to buy extra groceries in between pay periods!!!!!!!

sorry to hear about your lack of food!!

I too find that I tend to grab stuff at the grocer and it seems like I have enough, but then I run out....sooooooooooo I shop online and have my food delivered (peapod). I can browse the aisles that way, see how much I am spending and on what, and that way if I see something is on sale I add tons of it to my cart. Seems stupid, but I ALWAYS spend less and buy MORE when I shop online!

hehe i wish i had that kinda money...i spend about $130 every 2 weeks, for 2 people...half the stuff i get is pizza rolls, bagel bites, digiorno, hot dogs, hamburger helper...and the other half is the atkins stuff...but i usually get the short end of the stick since my fiance's food is so expensive.

I also shop every2-3 weeks, due to our paycheck schedule. It is hard, especially shopping for 5 of us. I have learned to buy extra bread for the kids and freeze it.. I usually have fresh veggies and fruit the first week I buy groceries, then move on to the frozen and canned ones the next week. Its the only way I could buy enough stuff to last me until next payday. Now the only thing I have to go back for is milk for the kids..can't find a way to make it that long with the milk..

thats exactly how much I spend, every 2 weeks for 2 people. I am diong atkins and my roomate is not and she was very used to eating all of that crap, but I we split our groceries ( I buy 130 1x a month and she does too) and she quickly came to realize how expensive it is. Does he absoluetly refuse to give up his junk good? Do you cook meals for both of you or do you each only cook for yourself?

Hehe he wont eat ANYTHING atkins...and he is a Brand-whore too...if the chicken nuggets aren't Tyson, you can forget it! lol Or if the pizza isn't Digiorno, he won't eat it. I "cook" both of our meals, but his is ususally something to throw in the microwave or oven, so his is easy, mine are always the difficult things that take an hour to cook, or require lots of cleanup. He is willing to spend the extra money, we had a talk last night, he won't give up his food...he told me we needed to stop spending so much, and I told him "well, then I guess I'll just quit my diet" (reverse psychology!) And then he was like "well i dont want you to have to quit your diet" and we finally came to the conclusion we will just spend more.
