had to give up another addiction..

Into my sixth week on the induction now. I ran out of keytone stix last week. :yikes All of a sudden I feel like I am gaining weight. Everyday i reach for a keytone stick and they are not there. I am weighing myself, and I am losing weight. I have not cheated, but my mind has been relying on those stix. I just cant buy them again. I didnt realise that I have been letting them rule my eating. So much so that i would sacrifice veggies for a good reading. No more. I can live without them for now. I think. I hope. hehe.

You sure can live without 'em! If you're eating off the acceptable food list and following the rules for induction, you'll be in ketosis. Remember, ketosis is like pregnancy, either you are are you aren't. Having readings darker purple isn't any better than lighter shades. In fact, many will say that if the sticks are too dark, you're not drinking enough water!

I lost 70+ pounds without ever turning those sticks any color.
But sometimes I definitely had the ketone breath.
Unlike a pregnancy test the strips sometimes don't change color even if you are in ketosis.

Hey DCS :wave Just wanted to tell you that I can see the difference of weight loss from your pic! Congrats to you and keep up the good work.

I think addictions are like anything. I know for me I started taking Xanax because of some anxiety and stress last summer (doctor recommended it) but then due to the pressure of my husband and others I stopped, and I feel much better without them. Plus I know I'm not retaining water as much anymore, as these kinds of pills make one retain water. Seems the inches are just falling off me now. I still have to get weighed again to check, but that's what it seems like.

As far as the sticks, I've only used the sticks once, but I'm sure if you are sticking to the diet/Induction, you cannot go wrong! :icondance

I've managed to lose 47 pounds without the stix :yes
Frankly, I'm too cheap to buy something that I pee on and throw away...lol..save your money for all the new clothes you're going to need soon.

Seriously now, it's good that you've recognized that you have a dependance on them and it's time you learned to trust yourself, your judgement, and Dr. Atkin's Plan. Try and relax, keep doing what you're doing and you'll find it easier as the days go by. :hug

And yes...theres certainly a difference in your pictures!! I also like your avatar...that's hilarious...lol

LOL, those sticks! There have been many discussions on this board about those sticks! I too was addicted to them when I first started, there is something about seeing that color change that is very encouraging. I had to give them up! My DH has lost over 30 pounds and never made the sticks change color, it doesn't work for some people. Hang in there! You are doing great!

It is unnerving not to have them isn't it? When I first started I was peeing on them everytime I went. Even now I sometimes have to resist the urge to go rummaging around for them under the sink.
