  • Off topic, water in ear!

    Hi,

This is off topic, but can anyone tell me how to get water out of my ear? I was accidentally splashed with water at my water aerobics class and now I can hear it sloshing around in there! I used something called Auro-Dri that my trainer suggested, I have taken decongestants, I stood on one foot and jumped up and down, nothing works. It doesn't hurt, so I really don't want to go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to. Any suggestions?

The only thing that helps me is to jump around with my head tilted, the ear with the water facing the ground. I swear, you'll look like a nut, but it really helps me. Don't stick anything up there, (qtip) to try to get it out. It doesn't work, and you'll end up with an ear infection. I do this on the concrete around my swimming pool. Just be careful not to fall and crack your skull.

      Blowdryer. Yep.. I'm dead serious.

I get swimmers ear quite a bit because of water in the ear. One of the things I do to dry my ear out when water gets in there is use a blow dryer on low heat on a low setting.. you don't want high heat or you'll burn yourself! Tilt the ear that has water in it down a little bit, point the blow dryer in your ear and hold it about 6 inches from your head and turn it on low. Do this for about 4-6 minutes.
Female/32/Still too big, but getting smaller..

      Instant insanity!

You can try sleeping on that ear. The water should eventually drain out.
