    Hello all-
I'm new to the forum and I am re-starting induction. I sinned this weekend with low-carb ice cream. I feel like I deserved a treat but I have got to get back on track now. It is only one month before I begin law school and I want to make sure that I have good eating habits to get me through all of that studying. THat means NO CHEATING!!!

One thing I am not sure of is gum. Do you chew sugar-free gum on induction at all? Atkins book doesn't mention it, BUT on line they sell sugar-free gum sweetened with sugar alcohols and splenda. This seems like either a) a contradiction with their plan or b) something that everyone does???

Anyhow- giving up the gum is going to be the hardest part of induction for me. I think I will start a journal to help me get through this time.

I recently completed the Dr. Phil Self Matters workbook to help me work thru some problems from the past. The result: my weight is not the source or solution to my happiness/lack thereof, BUT it is not an excuse to just let myself slide!!!

By atkins induction I also mean that I am going to be giving up my atkins shakes and atkins products COMPLETELY for 14 days. I can do it!!! CAN YOU GUYS BE MY CHEERLEADERS!

    Hi,

Most of us try to stay away from the sugar alcohol because it gives us either gas or diareaha so you might want to avoid things made with that. I have found that staying "clean" on induction is what works for me. I only eat the foods on the induction list, I don't eat the Atkins bars and shakes. I have lost 39 pounds. My DH isn't in as big a hurry as I am to lose this weight, he eats the bars and shakes, he has lost 30 pounds in the same amount of time. So it's up to you to see what works for you! I had to laugh about your giving up gum, I was a gum addict, I used to say I could only type if I had gum in my mouth, but I gave it up and got over it LOL! Good luck, keep posting and let us know how you are doing!

I was chewing gum to deal with the ketone breath, the first time I tried to do Atkins, and then discovered they were 1 gram of carb/pellet!!!
2 things I learnt: the breath goes away after awhile, and you really gotta watch things sneaking into your diet and messing up a clean induction!
