You can walk or jog around the block or in a park or mall for 30 minutes. That will take care of the aerobic exercise. Since you have weights you can do arm curls, shoulder presses, chest flys, etc. You can also do "good old fashion" PE class exercises like sit ups, push ups, jumping jacks, windmills, squats, lunges, etc.

If you need more back support for sit ups, I suggest investing in a balance or Swiss ball. It's a 65 cm or larger ball that you can sit upon to do you weight training exercises.

I use two different tapes at home, one is by "Crunch" and it's called "Fat Burning Pilates"- it's AMAZING! I can tell such a difference in my rear end and my thighs! The other tape I do is called "Power Yoga" and I think it's an amazing combination with Pilates, both tone and give you balance and strength, really helping with the inches lost!

I don't think the 4lb weights are going to cut it for us males. Walmart has quite a few deals on weights to buy.

Push ups, Crunches,Dips, ect are excellent. Add them with your weight training days, then on the other days do cardio, Running/walking works wonders.

If you have a mini-trampoline, try rebounding. Ten minutes is equivalent to 1/2hr of jogging. Do a google search for rebounding and read the marvelous benefits. I love it.

I workout at the gym mostly, but I wanted to have something at home that I could use if I wasn't in the mood to go out. We bought an ab-lounger at Walmart, and it is great for ab workout, and very easy & inexpensive. Last week we bought an exercise ball, and its great, and I use it with weights. There is an instruction booklet with it, and I asked one of the trainers at the club, to show me an exercise regime to follow. I have also ordered off t.v. a workout CD, its called power 90, from an infomercial. There's lots to do at home!!!!

I agree with FightingtheFat you'll need to increase the weight amount. Get a set of 25# and 35# dumbbells and perhaps a cheap bench, and you have the makings of a good home gym. Building those stabilizer muscles (aka no machines) will help speed muscle gain and help get a good sweat. If you get a barbell and free weights, the three quickest starter exercises to build muscle are squats, dead lifts, and bench as they work largest muscle groups possible.

Do you have an Xbox or playstation? I sometimes use a game called "YourFitness". It's loaded with a bunch of different exercises and it is customized for your needs and goals. It's almost like having a personal trainer, not quite, but almost. But it can be challenging!

you know, I am fighting the fat too! lol

The main thing you are going to learn is that its going to take effort. Its going to be tough, and you are going to get sweaty and tired and not want to continue, you will want to quit....thats when you will have to push through!

I am now working out at the gym (all 328 lbs of me! lol) but before I did that, I was and still am, a big fan of Walk Away The Pounds. It got me to where I am today, from 411 lbs.--with Atkins, of course! You really should look into these tapes. They are easy to do, especially the larger you are and easy on the joints, back, etc. They are incredibly motivating. I still am going to use my videos, even though I go to the gym.

I agree with Lowcarbing4ever, Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone is a fun, fantastic, kick your butt kind of exercise and yet very easy to follow. I started with the 1 mile tape, now I'm up to the 3 or 4 miles every day. It goes very fast and it's fun!

Now that I've lost 40 pounds, I'm very tempted to try the Tae Bo DVD, what is the best one to start with? I weigh 220, I'm 5'3" and 47 years old, will I be able to keep up? Thanks!

american 57-- Of course you can!!!! I have the "old school" tapes, Instructional, Basic, and Advanced. They are designed so that you can ease into them without getting discouraged or injured. Mr. Blanks also gives you alternative moves that you can use if you are not quite up to the level of the "real" moves. I am looking into buying the new Boot Camp DVD's as I am getting a little bored with the others ( I have been doing them for about 4 months). I am a bit more geared to my running now, but I do try to keep tae bo as part of my program, it is just too effective to leave behind. You can find the tapes for very little on Ebay. I got my advanced 1hr tape on ebay for $7.00. Good luck and keep us posted!!
