  • Day 21, I think I could use some encouragement about now!

    Hi guys,
I think I could use some help today. I am on day 21 and I have lost 7 pounds. I lost that weight in the first 7 days and nothing since. I have moved on from induction because I was afraid if I stayed there too long, I would quit. I lost 20 pounds doing atkins two years ago and now I am stalled. Worse than stalled, I am having severe cravings today. I went to Hard Rock Cafe last night and had a Cobb Salad with Ranch Dressing. I am wondering if there was something in there very high in carbs. I am putting everything into fitday and I have also started a rigorous running plan (about five weeks now). I would have thought I would weight less today! Anyway, all I want today is a huge plate of enchiladas and nothing else sounds good. I had even been bragging last week that I haven't even been hungry lately. What is going on? Someone just please tell me to stick to it! Thanks for everyone on this board. You guys are great!

It's quite normal not to lose on the SCALE for a period of time after the first week or two of induction. It's simply your body adjusting to the initial weight loss.

Check your measurements - are you losing inches? One of my buddies on another thread lost only 1/2 lb the other day, but THREE INCHES. (go figure!)

Check your energy level and happiness - do you feel good?

Before you have a big plate of enchiladas, come over to the SEcond Time Around Club. It's a forum for those of us who have done this before, and gained it back or just stopped and now want to start again. The motivation there is incredible, and we've all dealt with the slow losing pounds thing.
    Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

    Measuring every 2 weeks
As of 10/31/05, losta total of 56.75 inches!

Minimum 45 min cardio per day

Thank you so much for the quick response. I was hoping someone would because it is lunchtime here. I did very well, I am having my salad like I am suppossed to. Thank you for the encouragement! I feel like, if I can get through the day, I will be all right. Thanks for the tip, too. I am on my way now to Second Time Around!

one day at time and you will get there. Not sure how close you are to your goal, but the closer you are, the longer it will take to get there, I know this for sure because, that is what's going on with me. Plus, I know we all hate the word, but after induction, you do need to keep track of your calories. Unfortunately, if I dont count my calories, I dont lose. Have you checked that to see how you are doing there???

Hi there. Moochie has a great sticky called 'weightloss is not linear'. Give it a read if you haven't already. If you're sticking to your Atkins, drinking your water and exercising, you will be successful. I see you're posting in 'extended induction', but are you doing OWL now since you decided to move on from induction?

            Hi Shannon,

Well, you have just described ME. Do yourself a favor and read the thread I started in Induction Plus called "I took a sledgehammer to my scale today". (I really did.) The responses I received were very supportive and helpful.

Thanks everyone for coming to my rescue. I feel a lot better today! I have read through the threads and realize I am not alone in my little slow down.

Re: Day 21, I think I could use some encouragement about now!

This may be a little gross but it worked for me ... a friend of mine went to the Albertson's meat market after I complained about "only losing 12 lbs" and got 10 pounds of fat that had been trimmed from the meat. He boiled it so that it would look "real" put it in a 1 gal mason jar and presented it to me as my weight loss that was NEVER to return.

Sorry if that is too gross for you ... I needed that - it is very impressive when you see it.
