  • Stopped using Fitday

I went to my personal trainer today. I didn't go last week cause I was sick with strep, ear infection. Anyway, I was complaining to him that I have only lost 1 pound in the last 3 weeks. I told him my eating was the same and I was exercising except for one day I took off sick. He said "let's go in and look at your fitday food & activity logs and see what you have been doing." OOPS! I was so embarassed, I haven't put anything in Fitday since JUNE 16th! Could not recording everything in FitDay have an effect on my weight loss? I thought I had this WOE downpat and didn't need to write everything down anymore, but maybe that's not true. So I vow to record everything in FitDay and I'll let you know if I have a weight loss!

I have to agree with goal65- I mean I do try to use it but I have to go in and put in every single ingredient in my salad, it could be more user friendly.

If you regularly have the same mixture of food in your salad you could make a 'custom food' by going to a new day and entering all the ingredients with amounts then making a note of all the totals (including the 'nutrition report' which has all the vitamins and minerals).
Then click on 'new custom food' and enter all the figures and call it 'my salad' or something like that so you can just enter it as one entry.
I have even made a custom food called 'Daily pills' so I can enter all my pills as one item to save time.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Re: Stopped using Fitday

i have never used fitday either. i am wondering just how crucial it is. my theory is, my mom was doing atkins (don't think it was called that then) back in the early 80's. they didn't have fitday then and she lost plenty of weight with no problems. i say a good ol' pen and paper will do just fine if i really need to keep that strict of an itemized list. course, that's just my opinion.

              Re: Stopped using Fitday

I agree it isnt vital but for many of us (especially those who are at the computer most of the day) it is easier to be able to log in and add foods and see the totals appear before our eyes!!
When I started I used to use a notebook and write it all down too but I then could only see my total carbs or spend a lot of time trying to find out about fibre counts etc to eat net carbs.
I like to see all the other totals worked out for me on screen as well.
Also the discipline of writing everything down - even the odd condiments and spices used in cooking keeps me sticking to it better than all the work of handwriting and calculating just how many carbs were in the half teaspoon of mustard etc.

                Re: Stopped using Fitday

Good for you. Use it. I was able to look back over a few months with my fitday (although admittedly I do not use it faithfully either), but with the entries I did have, I was able to identify exactly what I changed over the course of time where I ceased losing.

                  Re: Stopped using Fitday

I don't think the point of America57's post was to say that Fitday itself is going to directly influence her weight loss. That's just what represents her accountability, same as pen & paper for some people, or posting on this forum for others. What I got out of her post is that sometimes we get complacent on this WOL and maybe we don't realize that we're not working the plan as perfectly as we thought we were. As weeks go on, maybe our cheese portions have gotten bigger and we're drinking slightly less water.

America57 -- Let us know how it goes! I'm currently doing a "Perfect Week Challenge" with myself, and I'm being very meticulous about drinking all my water, writing everything down, and keeping a close watch on my carbs. Even though it appears that I'm still doing the plan as I have been all along, I've been losing about 1/2 pound a day since my new found vigilance!!
