  • Ice Cream Bar

I have some "Skinny Cow" ice cream bars. They have 8 carbs only 2 of which are from sugar. Does that affect the total carb count at all? (Please say yes!)

Also, it's been about 2 weeks and I haven't lost any weight although I think I've lost an little inch wise. This was the end of my fourth week on Atkins. I have water with Splenda everyday and usually a coffee with some. I make sure not to have too much in a day, although I'm worrying that maybe I am having too much... Any opinions??

I'm going to move this thread out of Food and Recipes and into Extended Induction. You'll get more diet-related answers in that forum.

NO NO NO NO NO! Back away from the skinny cows! DONT DO IT! I just came off of a 2 week cheat here in there and it's true when you do have some sugar it makes your cravings that much worse! If you are finished with induction maybe you should work your way through to OWL so that you may be able to add some of that stuff in later down the road.

        Re: Ice Cream Bar

On one hand you are wanting to have a low carb ice cream bar, and on the other hand you are saying you aren't losing anything. You need to look at a few things before you consider adding something like that (which I'm not sure is Induction friendly because I don't know the ingredients, but I'm thinking the answer will be no)into your diet.
        Firstly, give this a read
        http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5090
and before you consider adding in something like an ice cream bar make sure your numbers are where they need to be on Fitday... here's a link to that if you haven't already found it on the board
        http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5235

At this point you need to concentrate on building better eating habits, and turning to protein/fat snacks instead of ice cream bars. We have the Skinny Cow here too, and I've considered buying it, but I just can't justify spending that much money on something that nutritionally, is not that great. I've had ice cream bars before, I know what they taste like, it's not like I'm missing out on anything. I find that being in OWL, I can have yogurt and berries, and holy moley, it's so much better to have a treat you can feel good about!
        Anyway, I digress...
From what you say about having splenda in your water, I'm kind of thinking you have a sweet tooth issue you need to deal with...? You are limited to 3 servings a day of sweetener...are you exceeding that?

          Re: Ice Cream Bar

The Splenda water is fruit flavoured is nice in the morning when I'm walking to the bus stop. I've had the skinny cow bars twice in the 4 weeks I've been on Induction, so not too bad, I hope. The only other time I have Splenda is when I have a cup of coffee at night.
I was speaking to a couple of girls at work who are doing Atkins and we came to the conclusion that it may be the coffee with cream. I wasn't having any coffee for the first two weeks of Induction and I have been for the last two, and I always have cream in it, so I'm going to cut that out, plus cut out the water in the morning, and watch how much cheese I eat.

I do go to fit day, and looking at what I've been eating, I think I'm not getting enough calories in the day, or carbs for that matter... Anybody have a good menu to help??

Hate to break it to you, but if you are consuming ice cream bars, you are not in induction.

Induction means eating ONLY the foods permitted on the list.

I'm getting that! Like I said, it's only been two, but those are the last two that shall pass my lips until the right time! I have been hardcore Induction for the last two days, and even though it's my birthday on Saturday, I am not having a birthday cake, which, I am surprisingly NOT upset about! This is a big thing for me since my Mom is a baker and makes hands down the best cheese cake you will ever have the joy of eating... or not in my case

Oh, I have to brag a bit! My Dad took us out for dinner last night to a great restaurant and not only did I manage to make my dinner Atkins freindly (I gave up the risotto, my weakness, for extra veggies), but when everyone tried to talk me into having dessert for my b-day, I said no, with no regrets! And I tried on some pants today and they are getting looser, even though no movement on the scale!!

My daughter made some mini-cheesecakes in cupcake pan, sooooo good! Just remember you can only have 3 servings of splenda per day on extended induction. For snacking, I have deviled eggs or chicken wings with blue cheese dressing & celery, or sugar free jello. Did you know there is a whipped cream made with splenda? It's called Land O' Lakes low carb cream.
