  • Slow losers

I'm in the middle of week four and finally weighed in. I've lost about 5.5 lbs. Although I lost about 16 inches the first two weeks, I've lost no inches in the last 10 days.

It's obvious that I am losing extremely slowly and I want to say first and foremost that I am not feeling extremely frustrated or tempted to quit at all. I feel good. I eat right. I get 45 min of cardio in per day plus weight training. I'm full of energy and very happy.

What I AM interested in is hearing from other slow losers. I want to know:

    1. Does the weight loss ever speed up or is this probably going to be a consistently slow losing period for me?

    2. Have you tried anything in particular that helped increase the loss? Did it succeed?

    3. Have you noticed whether the losses, though slow, are steady or whether they come in bunches then nothing for awhile?

    THanks!

My weightloss just kept getting slower and slower the longer I was in extended induction. Last week I started OWL adding 5 carbs of veggies and I lost 3 pounds. In extended induction, I wasn't even losing 3 pounds a month, let alone a week! We'll see how this week goes.

Maybe its time to come join us in OWL! Maybe upping your veggies will be the trick! I'm no expert though!

      Re: Slow losers

So far, my body's routine is to drop weight (2-4 lbs) about every 4 weeks, but nothing during the previous 3 weeks, then it starts it's cycle over again. Doesn't have anything to do with TOM either. I don't gain or lose during/after TOM. It's like it wants to think long and hard before it lets it go, then once it does, it goes back to contemplating if it wants to let some more go! "Hmmm, she could be trying to kill us, so let's hang onto this weight until we're sure!"

It's VERY aggravating to not lose even a pound during those other 3 weeks, but I don't let it discourage me. NOTHING is gonna stop me from getting this fat off of my body!

I am trying to get my calories up, increasing my water (although I drink more than 100 ounces every day), and increasing the intensity of my cardio workout. I like to push myself and see what I can take, and I'm sure my body sometimes thinks I've lost my marbles and that it might better prepare for armageddon!

Thanks for the replies! I hope to hear from others, too.

I have thought about trying OWL, but I wanted to be at least to 200 lbs before I did it. However, I may start it at 6 weeks.

Like Cajun, I'm not in the least tempted to stop this woe - I feel too good and any progress is progress!

My BMR is about 1650. I stay within 50 calories of that, usually slightly lower.

My carbs range between 11 adn 15 per day now....

I think my weight loss is somewhat slow also. I don't pay much attention to the scale anymore though...Some weeks I don't lose a single pound..but I've heard, the slower the weight loss, the more likely you are to keep it off

I'm still interested in hearing from others who are slow losers. Just tell me about how the weight comes off - a half pound at a time, or in bigger chunks with long periods in betwen?

I have also been a slow loser - but the past three weeks I have had good weight loss (8 pounds) and I think it is because I have stopped in between snacks, and am trying to do my exercise more consistently.

                        Re: Slow losers

My first time around I lost almost 70 pounds in 4-5 months. This time around I have lost 6 pounds in the first week of induction. and only 2 in the second week. so it's tough not seeing that scale move like it used to. it makes me frustrated but i know patience is a virtue and it will eventually come off. It's not considered a plateau until 4 weeks without loss I think....so I just keep going on....I do know the first time around I'd lose 5 pounds over night...this time, HMPH! lol....thats what I get for cheating and falling off the wagon I guess, I've heard it said that you only TRUELY get ONE CHANCE. So, what can we expect?
