  • Watch portion sizes!

It's all too easy to underestimate the size of the portion in front of you which means you end up eating more grams of carbs than you realize. Here are a few estimates on appropriate portions of protein and cheese at a glance. Share yours!

2 tablespoons of peanut butter = 2 tea bags
3 oz. of beef, chick or pork = a small pack of tissues
1 oz. cheese = 1 pair of dice
    1 oz. nuts = a ping-pong ball

(note: some of these foods are not Induction friendly. I just mentioned them here as reference. consume them in the proper Atkins phase!)

I'll agree! Dice, ping pong balls and small packets of tissues aren't on the Induction list, OWL/Pre-Maintenance lists and I don't think they're even allowed on Maintenance!

An ounce of cheese is a pair of dice? Yikes! Thanks for posting Perry, I might be going too heavy on the cheese! I guess it's time to get out my old Weight Watchers scale and do some measuring!!!

        Perry,

I read your post today at work and was a bit suprised about the 2 dice cheese thing. I was eating a lot of cheese until last week when I decided to go without to see if there was any change. Still curious though, I stopped at the store on my walk home and went to look at the cheese sticks I had been taking for my lunch. The mozzarella is round, but the pepper jack and the colby are square and almost exactly the size of dice. They are about 4 inches long and weigh 1 ounce. I could get about 8 dice from one of those sticks. Either we play with different dice, or your cheese is denser than mine.

        Cheers,
        Dave

Great point Perry! Portions are a lot of my downfall especially Pork skins 6 is a serving and I was eating them like they were going out os style. All I can say is get a scale that way you know for sure. In the end you are responsible for what goes into your mouth.

Well, If you take 6 of those 8 die I made out of that cheese stick, and wad them up, in theory, you will have the equivalent of 36 sides. Still less than an ounce though!

How would you fit 36 dots on one side?

                    OK let's figure this out:
                    I have a 3-sided die
                    I have 6 dice.
I rolled a pair of dice.
I have 3 different dies that fit this hole punch.
She dyes her hair, doesn't she?
                    Dice those tomatoes, won'tcha?
Don't get me started on tie-dyeing.

                    It's dicey language goodness.

Hmm.. fuzzy dice, that reminds me I need to change the water in the fish tank.

Thanks for the visuals Perry, they are always useful!

36 sided die are very itneresting.. they hurt like heck when you get beaned with them.

You put the dots on before wadding. (Again this is theory at this point)

I was wondering if you would catch that one.
I guess technically you just take a 6-sided die and only use 1,2, or 3 dots on a side so there are 2 of each face.
Some people use marker to "black out" the extra dots (on black dice)
