  • just having a bad day

    I have been on induction for almost 3 months and have lost a total of 32 pounds . But today I just feel down the last few weeks have been about 2 pounds lost per week. Starting weight was 295 ( this is very hard to see that # in print). I know thw weight wasnt put on in a day and will take longer to get it off.I watch my carbs (10-15 a day) but I was hopeing for more loss a week.
    Another thing is that I only have 1-2 BM's a week. What can I do to help me go to the the bathroom more regular? I guess Im just having a day (but it sucks).
    On the positive side my clothes are looser and I dont have that bloated feeling anymore. My goal is to get to 145 pounds in a years time. I have tried every diet in the world (or so it seems) and Atkins is the only one that I dont feel like giving up, its not a diet(hate that word ) but a way of life. Well thanks for listening. Hopefully tomorrow will be better .

    2lbs per week is NOTHING to sneeze at. You'll find a lot of people here and everywhere would give their left arm for a steady loss like that - but yeah - when it's not what you're used to, it's frustrating.

    You've now passed the honey-moon phase where the weight loss comes really easy and it's easy to stick with because the results are constantly patting you on the back all by themselves. This is where dilligence and perseverance are going to be super, super important - not just important, but necessary for you to get where you're going. The scale isn't always going to give you the encouragement you want & there are going to be times when instead of a lack of encouragement it's going to feel like a kick in the teeth. Know this and be prepared for it. This IS a way of life, you've got to be in this for the long haul.

    We brush our teeth every day - most of us at least twice a day, and every six months we go see the dentist and sometimes, in spite of doing everything right, we end up having to have work done. Do you stop brushing your teeth because you didn't get the "reward" of a pat on the back? Nope. You keep brushing your teeth because it's something that just needs to be done.

    Eating healthy is no different, my friend.

    Whether you make your goal or not in the next year, if you stick with the program you're going to be a helluva lot closer than you are now - and you'll feel it and the pride and energy that comes with it. This I promise you.

    As for the bathroom issues - add in some psyllium husks or flax seed/meal (I'm a big flax fan, myself). You'll find a ton of recipes for it here and at other low-carb sites that will make it a dietary staple for you.

      congrats on thew great job you have done working your Atkins so far. That is a great loss.

      Glad you posted about your down day and didn't turn it in to a stuf my face with comfy food day. Pat yourself on the back for that great acomplishment.

      If you haven't see your doc you might want to to make sure you are not lacking in any vits or minerals that can cause you to not be making enough of the chemicals your body needs to max out your weight loss. Our bodies are very complicated and being short in one thing can cause a chainreaction in being short in other things further down the reaction line. I know I needed supplements and my doc made some changes to mine during my long induction level carbs eating.

      Also what are you doing for your exercise part of your Atkins? Have you upped your intensity as you got lighter and in beter shape to keep your fat burning every day at an optical amount for you?

      Our bodies need less cals every day as we lose weight to preform the exact same things about 9 cals per pound for a female soooo did you adjust your food intake as you lost and are you only feeding your hunger and not your empty room in your tummy? Many superheavy weights don't realize that and are eating the same amount of food and cals now as they did when they started Atkins a few months lazter and wonder why their Atkins has stopped working so well.

      And you might just be ready to move to OWL and change things up. many folk lose better in OWL when their induction comes to a halt.

        If you think about it, 2 pounds a week (excellent by the way) is 104 pounds lost by July 2006

          Hang in there sweetie! You are doing fine! Slow and steady weight loss is the way to go and it will be permanent! One of my favorite quotes I have read here on the baord is as follows: ( I apologize to the person whom this came from, I can't remember who posted it so that I could give credit where credit is due, just that it encouraged me!) Here goes:

          So remember that and keep crawling when you can't run...at least your moving forward!
