  • Cheese Help

    I am pretty sure I have been eating too much cheese...but the problem is, it's the only easily accesible snack I have...I don't have to cook it, I can pull it straight outta the fridge and eat it. AND I use it in most of my dishes I cook. I LOVE casseroles and quiches and stuffed chicken...almost everything I eat has cheese on it. How do I break this cheese addiction? I'd feel so lost without it It's the onlly thing I really LOVE out of all the foods I eat...I can tolerate the other stuff but I LOVE my cheese And thanks to cheese I'm pretty sure, I haven't lost anything in about a month

    I haven't lost in a month either, until today. I cut out cheese on Monday because I have yeast.(I did the test in the Yeast forum) I lost 3 pounds last night. Amazing! I love cheese too and it is going to be hard to do without. I am hoping that after I have the yeast taken care of I will be able to eat cheese again. Take the yeast test and see if you are positive.

      Chop of some fresh veggies and put them in zip lock baggies in the fridge that away they are better accessible. I have a bag of caulifower and celery sticks in my fridge right now. I make some fresh ranch dressing and take it out when i need a snack. I try to limit the cheese to every other day or every 3 days.

      Just a suggestion..give it a try!

        Well, ya gotta change that!

        When you do your shopping, set aside an extra 30 minutes-1 hour for food prep so it's ALL easily accessible when you are feeling snacky.

        I do this on Sundays, and this is an example of what I do to make sure all my stuff is good to go.

        Wash all veggies & fruits: Cut them up and put them in individual gladware containers. Not only does it make them easy to grab for snacks, but it makes cooking the rest of the week a snap because they're all ready prepped and ready to be tossed into dinner de jour.

        Cook up a turkey breast and a beef roast and slice them up, and toss them into gladware containers. Again- makes them easy to grab and I don't have to worry about additives, cuz I didn't add anything to them!

        Cook up a batch of Mock Cinnamon Apples - It's jicama, and it's fantastic as a breakfast or as a snack.

        Boil up 18 eggs or so - Easy to make egg salads, deviled eggs, or just munch on them as is.

        These are just a few things I do to keep snacky stuff readily available, and it'll help ya stay out of the cheese! I know it does me.

            I always try to cut up everything and wash it, etc. after going to the grocery... But I just went grocery shopping and looked in my fridge... and there is nothing I want!!!! It makes me ill!!!! So, I just trucked it on down to my moms house, snuck in her garden and got some fresh green beans, squash, and mint leaves for my tea! Yum! I also grabbed a few flowers so my dining room has a better atmosphere this evening!!!

              I'm glad you started this post. I too am like you. I know I eat more cheese than I should. Cheese has always been my weakness since I was young. I just told my husband that I was going to go without cheese for 2 weeks to see if it helps me get off this stall I've been on for almost 3 weeks. He laughed. I don't think he thinks I can go 2 weeks without cheese, since I have it with at least two meals of the day, along with as a snack.

              I'll have to go to the store today to pick up some more veggies.

                This post fills me with horror because I LOVE cheese. When my mum was pregnant with me she ate at least a pound of the stuff every DAY. So far I haven't had a stall as such but I'm very worried now. Perhaps I'm not eating as much as I think I am, lifelong low calorie dieting has left me feeling guilty every time I reach for these cheese and that feeling has never left me. I'm still eating under the three oz's a day but it does tend to be the first thing I reach for.

                  I had to just give it up totally and when I saw a drop in weight it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

                    HA so I was hoping maybe I had candida and that was why I stalled....NOPE! LOL I eat too much cheese! Ok for breakfast instead of having scrambled eggs with shredded cheese on top, im going NO CHEESE! I'm gonna see if I can go 3 days without it....2 weeks is a bit much for me, I don't think I could go that long without just a little. But 3 days! Here we go!

                      I think the problem with cheese is that it is a dairy, and it contains lactose I believe? So it could be a sugar problem causing hte addiction of cheese?

                        Also be careful of the pre-shredded cheese in bags. They coat the shreds with cornstarch to prevent the shreds from sticking together. So you're much better off buying a brick of cheese and dividing it into cubes. Not only will you avoid the added cornstarch, you will also be able to monitor your portions.

                        Remember, when you choose to extend your Induction phase, you are still following the Induction rules and food list. So cheese is limited to 3-4 ounces daily.

                          Dang! I didn't know that! Not that I eat tons of cheese, but I do use the shredded cheese.

                            I didn't know that either! Lucky for me I've never bought it - aren't these manufacturers sneaky swines?!

                              I thought two weeks since I thought I'd need time to see if it was the cheese or a fluke. My last day at work is next Friday and then after that, I'm going to drastically up my exercise while at home with my daughter. I thought if I gave it until then, I could see if the stall is the cheese or if it's just that my exercising has dwindled. (Although I did get on the scale this morning and it said 175.5, but I didn't want to change my signature yet, just in case the scale is teasing me)
