  • Question for the experts

I've been wanting to take a good multivitamin and finally went to GNC today and the guy there (he was quite buff might i add) LOL! recommended me take the Women's Ultra Mega Vitamins. Does anybody take this one and if so do they get stalled etc. I really feel the need for a good multivitamin but havent a clue on which one to take. I have never taken a multivitamin except when i was pregnant taking pre-natals.....

I went ahead and bought them but if i cant take them i can take them back. I told the guy i would have to do some studying on them and figure out if I will take them or not. He told me i could bring them back as long as they were not opened.

    HELP!!!!!

    Re: Question for the experts

Not an expert, but a very satisfied customer.....

I use Alive by Natures Way. They have all sorts of good things in them, including veggies/fruits/mushrooms/EFAs/Digestive Enzymes/amino acids, etc. Everything but the kitchen sink. I order them through Iherb.com along with other supplements I take.

    Good stuff!

      Re: Question for the experts

I have been told that Centrum Silver is a good multivitamin on Atkins. I used to get those vitamins you are talking about at GNC but they are the size, smell and taste of horse pills. YUCK! I would gag taking them and therefore, did not. Does not due me much good if I can't get them down. They may pack more of a punch that Centrum ? but like I said, if you are sensitive to pills, it won't help at all if you can't take them.

I just take old fashioned Centrum. In fact, the ingredient labels of the drugstore-brand vitamins typically impress me more than the expensive health food store ones.

          Re: Question for the experts

Hola! I used to buy some fancy multi-vitamin with no iron from GNC, but then after reading up on the boar dI found that Centrum Silver works really well. I've been taking the Target brand (220 caplets for like $6) and have been feeling great.

You definitely want a vitamin with little or no iron in it since we get enough from the meats we eat. I never understood why the centrum for low carb diets had added iron...??

              Re: Question for the experts

I use the GNC Womens formula and am really happy with it.

We have an Australia formulation, but I think the only different is it has less selenium in it.

I have that the multi and a GNC Big 50 vitamin B complex each morning with breakfast and then I have a second Vitamin B mid to late afternoon at work (I'm a stresser!).

I find it keeps me fairly balanced

                Re: Question for the experts

I take the Women's Iron Free Ultra-Mega from GNC because the store is right beside where I work...lol and I've taken them pretty much from the third month I was on Atkins (when my others ran out)
I think they're fine, but I'm going to look into Centrum next time.

It's the Centrum Silver that we're interested in, right?

                  Re: Question for the experts

My friend who is a pharmacist, had recommended to me the Costco brand of multivitamins, and I have been taking them for the last 4 months. She said the incredients in them were similar to the named product ones, which cost alot more! I will have to ask her about comparing them to the Centrum type that you're all talking about!
