    Question about sugar-free Candy?

    If the label says TOTAL CARBS. 23g
    dietary fiber 1g
    sugars 0g
    lacititol 19g


    Does this mean there are only 3 grams of carbs per serving?

    Is lactitol a sugar alcohol?

    Yes and can have a laxative affect to put it nicely. 19g would probably leave you in some serious pain so I would have to really really really advise you not to eat it. I've yet to meet a sugar alcohol that is nice to me. I hope that helps!

      Thanks for the reply bug. I guess i should maybe hold off on these for awhile. Do you have any suggestions to satisfy a sweet tooth?

        You're very welcome. There's lots of recipes right here on our own little board! Here's the link...let me know if it doesn't work for you. http://www.lowcarbrecipes.org/When I'm in the mood for something sweet I make flax bread and top it with cream cheese mixed with a little Sugar Free French Vanilla Syrup (no S.A's in those...at least not that I've seen) and a bit of Splenda. Sweet and filling. It's one of my favorites.
