So many people are misinformed about Atkins Nutritional Approach.... I actually used to think it was unhealthy too. But now that I have read things and understand better I know it can be as healthy as you want to make it.

How is eating basically dessert for breakfast (cereal) GOOD for you? Things that are prepackaged are generally not good for you. We are eating fresh, wholesome foods... I think that's great. And I think if you DO try to stay away from saturated fats then it can be extremely healthy. I try to include fish (my fav is salmon) in my diet A LOT... fish is very good for you... and chicken breast is very good too.

How could this NOT be good for you?

I always cringe when I hear of people being on "diets" especially low-cal and low-fat ... it's just not healthy.

People talk bad about me all the time because of the way I have changed my diet. And they also don't understand because I am in a healthy weight range already. What's wrong with trying to be healthy?

I realized I really need this way of life because there is diabetes in my family genes and I LOVE SUGAR AND WILL EAT IT ANY WAY I CAN.... That is certainly a path to diabetes. I also have two overweight parents (my mom is on Atkins with me ane working on it!!) so what would stop me from getting overweight with my appetite for carbs and sugar? Atkins. I'm gonna do this.

Just keep being that walking infomercial! Long term results will keep showing, and don't forget to get your bloodwork done for further proof. Having a doctor's support goes a long way with naysayers. My doctor is supportive of Atkins as a lifestyle change, NOT for quick weight loss. That's obviously not because Atkins is unhealthy but because people too often are looking for the quick weight loss without wanting to actually change their eating habits.

If you wind up with a doctor that's against Atkins, if he's open-minded there's always hope in educating him. (or her )

I've found that I love to inspire others, yet I've finally come to grips that a lot of people don't really want it badly enough to stay with it. So I stay steady in my Atkins beliefs and they usually keep coming back or they put on more weight waiting for a magic pill to save them. They can only do the work themselves; we can only give encouragement when they're wanting it.

I have a friend that works in a vets office, she said that all of these cats are coming down with diabetes, it's an epidemic in the cat world. The reason is that cats are carnivores, they are suppose to eat meat. Cats used to go outside and catch mice and birds and that added meat to their diets, now that most of them are being kept indoors and fed cat food which is made up of cereal, they are all getting diabetes. So next time your friends say this WOE is unhealthy tell them about the poor cats!
