  • Has anyone experienced this??

Have any of you found that a food you ate and lost while eating later causes you to stall? I am wondering if I continue eating the foods I lost weight with the first 4 weeks, then they should not be causing me to stall and maybe I should cut out any new foods I have been eating?? But I would think any foods (with the exception of cheese) I ate when I lost would be safe for me now, right?

For example, I know a lot of people do not drink coffee but I have had a cup each morning during the first 4 weeks and still lost 18 pounds. I drank 1 diet soda with aspartame then too. Still lost. (I have since switched soda to Waist Watchers with splenda )

The new foods I have added in with help from a friend were:

Broccoli/ Cauliflower salad - bacon, mayo, vinegar, splenda and cheese
Flax bread - made with splenda, davinci syrup
    deep dish pizza
    Faux potato salad
    sausage stuffed mushrooms

Maybe I should cut out the new foods and see? I am just not sure. I have for the last 3 days totally cut out cheese and the mushrooms for now and am going to the store today for a probiotic to help ward off yeast if that is the problem.

    Help

first congrats on your success so far. Know that itis normal to experience a post induction hesitation in scale pounds losy because of very complicated bio chem changes going on. hang in there and make friends with your tape measure to see the inches of fat melting off.

if after 4 weeks of no pounds nor inches lost then you need to make some changes casue you are stalled but for now don't fix it cause it aint broke> Happy low carbing.

Are you putting cream in your coffee? I did fine on induction with decaf coffee with half & half, still lost weight, but then I discovered as time went on that the half & half was stalling me. As soon as I started drinking the decaf black, I started losing again. Weird.

Chris, I switched during induction from creamer and splenda to a little davinci SF syrup and a tbsp of heavy or light cream.

          The Broccoli /Cauliflower Salad recipe

          1 med head of cauliflower
          Equal parts broccoli
          1 cup of mayo
2 tbs of vinegar (white or apple cider)
          1/4 shredded cheddar
          4-6 slices of bacon
          1/8 cup splenda

nuke the broccoli and cauliflower until soft but not mushy. Drain. Add in shredded cheese while veggies are still hot so it melts a little. Add in the rest of the ingredients and stir. Let sit in fridge for a least an hour until serving. Flavors mix the longer it sits in the refrigerator.

The big question is, what does your fitday look like? Calories? Percentages? Carb counts?

              Re: Has anyone experienced this??

I am ashamed to say but I don't use the fitday. I find it too difficult with conversions and such. I tried the other day to put 1/8 cup of splenda into a bulk recipe and it only let me do it by the tablespoon. Well, I have no idea how many tablespoons are in a 1/8 or 1/4 cup or whatever it is. Also, splenda is not listed, which one should I use?? I just kinda find the whole thing a big old pain in the bum.

Is there a more user friendly program?

(PS: I am thinking that part of my problem could be a yeast problem due to too much cheese and mushrooms. I never even ate mushrooms before but stuffed with sausage and cheese, yummy. So I think I over did it. I have since cut out all cheese and mushrooms for the last 3 days, bought some physillium husk powder and acidophilus in hopes of helping!)

                  Re: Has anyone experienced this??

That's a lot of calories for someone of your weight. My bmr is about 1650, and I weigh 207. The problem may simply be that you are eating too many calories.

I like fitday. I just enter in the individual ingredients of things when I'm too busy to add up and divide into portions. For example, a quiche which takes 4 eggs and 1 pint cream would simply be 1 egg and 1/2 cup cream, plus whatever veggies I put in, so maybe 1/4 cup sliced waterchestnuts. I'd just enter in 1 egg, raw, 1/2 cup cream, heavy, unsweetened, 1/4 cup waterchestnuts.

If you aren't keeping track of the calories, percentages, and carbs (gross and net), then you may not be able to figure out what is going on in OWL.....

                        Sausage stuffed Mushrooms

I buy 2 packages of the larger whole mushrooms, cut off the stems and kinda hollow them out so you can put the sausage.

Brown sausage (I use spicy) with 1 tbsp garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings, and 2 tsp of chopped green onions.

Put mixture into mushroom caps. Top with whatever mixture of shredded cheese you like: Mozz/Parm, Ched/Montery Jack, etc.

Bake for 10-20 minutes at 350 checking them every few minutes after they have been in 10 minutes.

                        Yummy!

Actually, at 298 my BMR is 2145 calories so I am normally eating less than that. That's one good thing though, huh?

That salad sounds good...except for the Splenda. I imagine that leaving the sweet out would still result in an awesome salad, though!! I think I'll try that fitday thing...
