  • 13 Day Stall...normal?

I know that loss stalls are common and normal...however, is a 13 day stall normal as well? I'm on day 17 of Induction, and I haven't lost anything since day 3. I'm still in ketosis (the sticks are my friends), and since I began measuring myself around the middle of week 2, I've only lost a 1/2" on my neck and thigh, but no movement otherwise. I've been pretty active over the past week - as the first 10 days I was knocked flat by the adjustment to Induction - doing lots of walking, and yesterday I started my cardio. Is a 13 day stall normal, then?

Yes, it's normal. The body is a really strange creature. It controls when it wants to release fat and water, and we don't really have much say over the schedule, lol.

Having said that, let's check your numbers to make sure that you are on the right track.

What is your bmi? How many calories, on average, are you eating per day? What are your fat/protein/carb percentages? How many net carbs are you eating per day? (If you use fitday.com, this info is available at the click of a button)

Also, are you drinking a ton of water? That will really flush the stuff out.......

I went on Fitday yesterday for the first time and found it really time consuming. Maybe once I get the hang of it it will be faster. According to it I had 60% fat, 34% Protein and 6% carbs. How's that?

I just measured myself and found some small losses pretty much everywhere except my wrists...so I guess I'm losing something somewhere.

          Devi,

If you are doing extended induction, you want your percentages to be 65% fat, 30% Protein and 5% carbs at the end of the day.

Fit day seems hard at first, but most people tend to eat the same things, go to the custom food, plug your foods in there, then it's just a matter of clicking on it everyday, saves a lot of time.

I'm sending the wooshie fairy your way, you wait and see, if you are doing everything right, you are gonna have a wooshie soon! Let me know when you do!

              Re: 13 Day Stall...normal?

Devi - I'm going to assume that your ticker represents the last 17 days. If that's the case, let's take a look at the math.

You started with 36lbs to lose. You've lost 7lbs in the last 17 days.

You've lost 19.4% of the total amount of weight you want to lose in 17 days. Someone with 100lbs to lose would have had to lose 19.4lbs in the same period of time to keep up with you. It's alllllllllllllll about perspective.

              That's not a stall That's fantastic!!!

If you've started exercising in the same period of time as well as making huge adjustments to your diet - you're going to have to expect to give your body some adjustment time. You've thrown it quite a few curve balls in a very short period of time

Hang in there. It looks like you're doing fantastic to me!

Thanks! I was always bad at math...so those percentages look good! I like that. You look really awesome by the way! Where/how did you make the avatar, and how does everyone get the photo's into thier signature? Do you have to have a website? I only have a professional one.

P.S. I just took a look at your melting page! Amazing! I also saw that you like the Carmen Elecktra Strip Tease Aerobics...I've been waiting to see if anyone would recommend them, since I'm dying to buy 'em! Maybe I'll ask for them as a B-Day present from my partner!

                    Re: 13 Day Stall...normal?

It's ok to go above 65% fat. I hover around 70% because a) I eat very little meat and b) at lower than that, I lose slower or not at all.

                      Re: 13 Day Stall...normal?

Also a stall as defined by Atkins, is if you have not lost weight or inches in over 4 weeks. So not only do your stats look good, but this is not really a stall.

That's good! Thanks... I would freak out if nothing happened for 4 weeks! Let's knock on wood that that won't happen!
