  • Redo Induction? What do you think??

I am starting to wonder if I should redo induction. I am about six weeks into atkins second time around. I have lost ten pounds and have stopped for the past two weeks. I know why.

My job has turned stressful and I am in the process of working out a two week notice to stay home full time. I think that is causing me to think less about what I eat and turn more to convenience foods. I have not exactly cheated, but I have eaten things that I would normally not eat on a daily basis. I have not gained weight back either, so that is good. I am just maintaining and I have decided that it is okay with me for another week.

I am guessing that I am eating about 40 to 50 grams a day. So, my question is...when this week is over, should I do a strict induction or just cut back the carbs to the way it was before I stopped losing?

Any advice is appreciated. I truly value all your opinions...

Re: Redo Induction? What do you think??

Considering you've sort of fallen by the wayside so to speak, it would probably be beneficial to you to do two weeks of a proper clean induction.
Not so much for the purpose of trying to get that Induction whooshie(which doesn't usually happen on the second or third time around) but more for the purpose of really embracing the Rules of Induction and the Acceptable Foods list and building a foundation so that in the future you can really see Atkins as being your way of eating.

There will always be stresses and events in our lives which present us with challenges, and what we all need to do is to learn to automatically search out the proper foods that our bodies need instead of reaching for convenient or comfort foods.
This time around, really keep that in mind as you progress along.

You are quite close to your goal, so after the two weeks, you need to start progressing up the rungs of OWL. Drop into the OWL forum and read up about it so you are ready to go when the time comes.

on the other hand, seems like you got enough stress right now... you're not losing at the moment... but you only 15 pounds to LOSE.... I'd back down to say rung 1 or 2 or OWL and try to drop so many convenience foods.... and see....

although moochiecat DOES make excellent points.....I'm just saying... for me... I wouldn't want to go through the whole 'induction flu' thing again

I do like both ideas. I am not enthusiastic about the induction flu again. That really was tough. On the other hand, I will have the time to get laid up for a day or two. Hmm... I am going to try very hard to stay on 20 g. today and tomorrow and see what happens with me. Thanks for the responses.

I doubt you'd really go through much, if any, induction flu at all. If you're at 50 grams and you cut that back to 20-25, it's not going to take much wind out of your sails. You're not going from being a full scale bad carb/tons of carb place like we did when we hit inductioin the first time.

I'd say clean it up for a couple of weeks, but I don't know that I'd necessarily drop back to a full-scale induction. I'd cut carbs back to 20-25 - but I'd eat the full 20-25 in induction friendly style instead of sticking to the 2-3 cups (which I believe is garbage anyway).

          I wish you success
