  • Need Encouragment!!!

I have now been on the Atkins diet for 18 days, and I have only lost 10 lbs. I have lost inches and I lost weight for the first 12 days and have not lost weight since. I am still on induction and I haven't cheat at all.

I usually eat either 2 scrambled eggs or a cheese omelet for breakfast, salad for lunch, and some sort of atkins recipe for dinner, for instance last night I had chicken thighs with a cucumber salad.

I started working out this week, and I am wondering if this might be why I'm not seeing any more weight come off. I know I have lost a total of 8.5 inches since I started with 1 lost since Monday, but I really wish I would see that scale come down some.

Any suggestions on what I could do would be helpful. Thanks for letting me talk about this.

    Susan

Inches are better than pounds!!! I would do anything to have a loss in inches. Your doing great, you've done incredible in this amount of time. Keep up the good work! Drink your water and exercise exercise!!

The scale is the least accurate measure of progress. Don't let it get to you.

Honestly, would you really give a rip if the scale said you weighed 500lbs but were fitting into a size 6?! C'mon. It's not the number on the scale that matters

I have yet to go shopping and find a pair of pants that have a weight requirement on the tag - I do, however, see an inch requirement on them 1-2lbs won't get you down a size, but 1-2 inches certainly will!

Well done!! And if the scale unnerves you like that, STAY OFF IT!

Your doing great at 10 lbs and 8.5 inches! Pat yourself on the back lady!

I'll take inches off to the scales moving any day!

My first time on induction I also lost the first couple weeks...then nothing for a while. Then the pounds did start moving again. Soooo just keep doing what your doing...it IS working!

          Hey Susan33!

I'm on day 18 also! I lost 9 pounds and 8 inches. So, we are pretty similar. (I also just started exercising this week.)

How long did you plan to stay on Induction?

This will work!!! Don't despair!! There are too many success stories out there...it will happen. Just give it time. (Once everyone starts noticing it will get easier and more fun.)

Thanks everyone, that is what I need.

Kat, I want to stay on induction for at least a month. I am glad that someone else is going through the same thing as me. I've always had problems sticking to a diet. But I have been doing pretty good with sticken to Atkins. Hopefully, I can stay with it for a long period of time and have success like all the stories I have read.

            Thanks, Susan

I want to stay on Induction for a month also then try the OWL portion of the program.

Just keep coming here every day, read posts, reply to people and try to journal your journey. It will help. You can also look at some of the before and after pictures for when you are not feeling so motivated. (You can send me an email or PM...we can help each other.)

We can do this! It is possible! You have it in you!!! And we are all in this together!!

                    Re: Need Encouragment!!!

Good work on droping the 10 pounds. Exercise will cause you to retain water for a few days at least. It's the body's response to the muscle fiber damage caused by exercise. Also, as you add muscle, you may plateau for a while since muscle weighs more than fat. You are still losing fat, but the scale won't move. Eventually, the increased metabolism and burned calories will offset this sticking point and you will lose weight even faster.

                    Don't give up !

Susan I used to think like that . Sure its great jumping on the scales and seeing a massive shift . But remember muscle does weigh more than fat and muscle burns fat . Also no one asks how much you weigh . Thy look at how slender you have become . Inch loss is fantastic . Be proud of yourself and 10lbs is a lot to lose !.
