  • My love/hate relationship with the scale

Good afternoon all! I have some questions that I was wondering if any of you Atkins experts can help me with. I have been on Atkins for almost 4 weeks (and love it). Initially, I was losing like a pound a day, but then for the last 7-10 days I wasn't losing anything. My clothes did feel differently however. So I took the book's suggestion and went out and bought a measuring tape and measured all my fun body parts. I also went out and purchased the recommended Nutritional Supplemnts (CQ10, L-Carnatine, EFA, Chromium Picolate). Well after taking those suppliments for 1 day, and after the 7-10 days of no weight loss, I get on the scale Sat morning and lost SIX POUNDS over night. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN, LOL. I was flustered (but excited) all day! It just amazes me. I was just wondering if anyone else has had an experience like this. It's like your weight catches up with your body over night. Maybe it was the supplements, I dont know. I'm still on the 20 carbs a day diet and feeling great, so I'm gonna stay here for awhile. I'm also exercising 5 days a week at an hour/day. This is my first time on Atkins and I've lost 17lbs in 3 weeks now. Oh my other question is about ketosis and urine. I noticed my urine is pretty yellow these days. Is that a sign of ketosis? I drink a lot of water and normally that would have cleared it right up but I notice its strongly yellow these days.

Thanks in advance for any feedback !!

Wow congratulations on the weight loss. That's wonderful!

The bright yellow urine is actually excess vitamin B (it's probably almost flourenscent?). That happened to me as well...and it scared me! LOL. It's harmless, just your body ridding itslef of the excess B. You're probably taking a multivitamin that has it or a B complex supplement.

Often the scales and tapemeasure don't tell us the same thing as it takes a while at times for our bodies to catch up with the inches we lose. Personally, I feel the tapemeasure is our friend and the scale a distant acquaintance! Sounds like you're off to a great start. Good job!
