  • I'm STUCK!

Hi! I'm new to this message board site and I'm looking for some help! I did great on Atkins last fall and kept it off until I got married in June. As I was trying to be a great wife, I began fixing pancakes, biscuits, muffins and more and eating them each morning with my husband. Those items started sticking to my hips and I decided to get back on Atkins. I started Atkins precisely 1 week before Katrina slammed us in south Louisiana. I was motivated to stay in the induction because I tend to get sick when I get off at first and we didn't have power, water, etc. and I didn't want to be sick. I have now completed 3 weeks of the induction guidelines. After the first two weeks, I'd lost 9 pounds. Since then, the scales say that I've gained a pound or two, but I have been eating around 15 carbs/day. Can anyone help me determine why (1 week later) I haven't lost?? Is it possible that its fluid retention - My rings fit tight on my hands some days?? Is it possibly muscle since I've done lots of running and carrying heavy loads as we're helping others at this time?? I'm doing too well to quit, but I'm getting discouraged and need help. I only have about 15 pounds to lose, but I've gotta lose it!
    THANKS!

If your fingers are tight I would guess water retention. Also if you are doing a lot more physical activity you could be building up musle. Are you measuring? That is the best way to gauge, scales are evil-lol

doing new to you exercise can cause fluid retention weight gains. Congrats on the great job you are doing on your Atkins and for surviving the hurricane. It is very normal not to lose weight right after induction I call it the post induction weight loss hesitation because that is all it is. Your body will still be burning body and dietary fats for fule now you are still in ketosis and eating right so the program will be working just not as fast as that initial induction weight loss period.

        Happy low carbing.
