This is my second time around on Atkins. The first time, I lost - I think - at least 7 pounds during the induction phase. This time, I have lost only 3 pounds - and all of those were during the first week. Since I lost no weight the second week, I am guessing I need to continue induction until I start losing again. Does this sound right?

Re: Am I a Candidate for Extended Induction?
Not necessarily. If you're in ketosis and want to move on to OWL, that is your choice. There isn't a weightloss number to determine when to move on other than NOT staying on induction until you get to your goal weight. It's important to go through all phases of Atkins. Check out the Second Time Around forum too for lots of support specific to those starting over. It's my understanding that often we don't get the same results the second time starting this WOE.

But if I'm not losing weight, why would I add more carbs by moving onto OWL? There is no weight loss, so how can I have "ongoing" (the "O" in OWL) weight loss? It's my understanding that you drop back in carbs when you go a week without losing. At this point, I would barely be eating anything but protein, and I can't do that!Originally posted by IsabeauNot necessarily. If you're in ketosis and want to move on to OWL, that is your choice. Re: Am I a Candidate for Extended Induction?
because the post induction hesitation period does not mean you are not losing fat mass. It means your total mass isn't dropping but you can be adding muscle and/or fluid mass so the sclaes don't move as you burn off your fat mass. How are your inches lost going?
Many folk lose weight eaiser in OWL then in extended induction for some readon.
Read chapter 12 and 13 of your DANDR so you understand what 14 days of induction did for you and then based on your answers to those questions in those chapters you will know if you should move or not!
