  • Are you a fat friend??

OKay guys, I have a confession. For as long as I can remember, I have been a fat friend. Now, I know what you're thinking..well, yea I've been the fattest one in the bunch..That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the friend who LOVED (and most of the time suggested) to go out to eat with her girlfriends and eat all the yummy desserts. The one who always talks there skinny friend into eating something you know neither of you should. You know what I'm talking about...and I must admit, I was a fat friend. A fat sister, a fat co-worker, a fat anything you could be. It seemed so much easier to make everyone around me fat, instead of getting off my behind and being skinny!! I want everyone to know, that I am available to be a skinny friend to any of you who need someone to support or encourage you!! I am ready to stop sabotaging myself, and I want to help. I feel so guilty for doing this, and I am sorry...oh yea...and if you ever read any of my replys to cheating posts where i say " oh it's okay one time"...I LIED!!! Don't listen to me..please!! I have sabotaged myself twice now. Today i am re-restarting!! Thank you to all of those who have said..no don't do it...I appreciate your honesty and i promise to listen from here on out...

Well, now that I have cleared my concience, have a good day everybody!!

{{{jsj}}} Next to me, honey, you ARE the skinny friend! *lol* Thanks for taking the time to talk about this. It really is hard, but you're learning things about yourself because Atkins helps us to see reason we were always blinded by in the past!

Re: Are you a fat friend??

Well, I have been the "fat freind" for quite a long time. From High School to the military (even in Ranger school) I was the "big guy". The problem was that I was always bigger, faster and scored higher on everything so they just had to keep me around! LOL

Of course now all my skinny freinds all smoked, drank HUGE amounts of alcohol, smoked dope like cheech and chong, and had the sexual habits of mink... Now they are all pretty much scarey looking. Not on the scale of Keith Richards.. but pretty close!

Re: Are you a fat friend??

Recently, i went to visit a relative that i hadn't seen in a long while. She wanted to serve cake/coffee etc. but i explained that i'd really started to lose weight and if i detour even w/ a small cookie, it messes me up. Well she was just lovely, she brought out cold water as i asked and made some coffee poined out that there wer fresh fruits on the table and said no more about it except for compliments on how i look and we had a nice visit for several hours.

Reading your post, i realize how some domineering people tend to really push the sweet stuff, feigning being insulted if i don't agree to eat the junk they insist on putting in front of me (or ordering cheesecake and insisting that i share w/ them...i didn't order it...so i don't want it). It was so nice not to have to argue or become defensive about why i can' put htis stuff into my body...having a simple, permissable drink also allows others to fulfill their "hospitality need" and keeps me on track. When i say 'no' and someone insists, i feel demeaned like a child who doesn't make her own decisions but is forced to eat what's put in front of her...it's as if my decision of what I'll put into my mouth is invalidated.

Well, now that i'm very conscious of it, i have to try to find ways to gently and firmly continue to stand my ground so when i'm confronted w/ this passive-aggressive sabotoge i can get thru it w/out alienating people that i care about.

Lastly, i'm a bit guilty of this stuff too because i usually have cake in the freezer in case someone comes over, i put on the table, and although i don't usually coax, it's there, in front of somebody else who may be struggling w/ sim issues, so i need to be more sensitive on the hosting side. (At this point cake doesn't even tempt me...now chocolate...well there's a challenge...so far, this time around i'm not even using sugar substitute except for a tiny bit when i make coleslaw and this has really helped my cravings)

Elsie150...thats a great idea ...maybe a journal would really help me. I had one that I wrote in everyday, but I stopped b/c it was so onesided...I noticed I have been doing so much better with the input of others...I'm off to the journal forum...

Soon2bslim...I am sorry that I have been one of those people who push food. I too need to learn better that I can say NO!! THis is so much easier than I thought. I always put sooo much thought into "should i eat this, or maybe a nibble of that won't hurt" blah blah blah...i have one word for it all now!! NO NO NO!! well, maybe no thank you..but you get the point

iyamamaschke...THank you! I'd be honered to be cheat free with you!! If i have the mind set that I can eat crap...what was I expecting to happen to me once I was maintaining..too many choices for me to make with all of those goodie... I have to learn to say no, now. I am gonna do this right...YAAHHHOOOO!!

Fozzy...Good for you! See, now you have nothing to worry about!! They probably look leathery and you are buff!!! I think that's what I need...a strong , big man....ah sorry

Everyone else...that's for being so proud of me. It really helps to know that I am FINALLY on the right track!!! THanks for being so supportive.
