Who else here LOVES watching Emeril Lagasse cook!? Every evening my husband and I tune in for "Emeril Live".....we laugh our butts off (he's pretty funny) and I also get some new meal ideas that I can tweak to make them Atkins friendly. I will post some in the recipes section once I test them out and make sure they are palatable

    BAM!

      Re: Emeril

Soliwit, where are you moving to? Are you coming to the US? I am not sure where Emeril's shows air...Where did you see his show before? Does it ever air in the Netherlands? He is the most entertaining cook I have seen in a long time...He cracks me up...he is so silly! He got me inspired to start cooking again! When I was a kid I used to watch "The Frugal gourmet" with my mom and we used to love to cook together.....turns out that later on he got into big trouble with the law He was a pedophile !!!

My husband is a "strange" eater and half the time when I would cook he would not be hungry or would want something ridiculous for dinner like a bowl of ice cream ...(thats how I felt after cooking a meal and having him not want to eat!) So I quit cooking...who wants to cook for one??? But then Emeril got me inspired and my husband is interested in trying some of the stuff he cooks on TV....Plus since I am doing this WOE for me, I need to take care of me...SO I will cook again!

Ugh, I can't stand emeril. How the **** does a cajun from louisianna have a brooklyn accent? Stupid.

Oh well, I like a lot of shows on the food network though!

                    Re: Emeril

Well, we all have our own opinions and preferences.....but I don't think it is very kind to outright call what another person finds appealing "stupid"

Here is his Bio....he is not from New Orleans, he is from MA....hence the bostonian accent.

                    Bio: Emeril Lagasse

Who knew that a kid working in the local Portuguese bakery would burst with a bam! into the culinary scene, opening a series of successful restaurants, hosting popular TV shows, and becoming one of the most recognizable chefs of all time?

As a boy, Emeril Lagasse began bread and pastry making at a Portuguese bakery in his Fall River, MA, neighborhood. Turning down a music scholarship to follow his culinary dream, Emeril worked his way through the Johnson and Wales University culinary program to earn a doctorate.

After school, Emeril turned his eye toward the classic cuisine of France. He polished his skills in Paris and Lyons before returning to the US, where he worked in several fine restaurants in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. Building a reputation through his use of only the freshest products, he came to the attention of Ella Brennan, the doyenne of New Orleans' culinary community. She persuaded 26-year-old Emeril to move to the Big Easy, where for nearly eight years he presided over Ella and Dick Brennan's legendary restaurant, Commander's Palace.

Emeril opened his own restaurant in 1990. From the day its doors opened, Emeril's Restaurant and its owner drew ecstatic praise. Congratulations came not only from the local New Orleans gentry and the writers who prowl the region for culinary news, but also from such national magazines as Esquire, Conde Nast Traveler and Travel & Leisure, as well as from such noted food critics as John Mariani and Gene Bourg.

Following the success of Emeril's Restaurant, Emeril opened multiple establishments. NOLA, which opened in New Orleans' French Quarter in 1992, and Emeril's New Orleans Fish House at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, which premiered in 1995, both draw crowds of fans and rave reviews. In 1998, Emeril also reopened the classic Emeril's Delmonico in New Orleans. Two more restaurants quickly followed in 1999 - Emeril's Orlando at Universal Studios and Delmonico Steakhouse in Las Vegas. In January 2002, Emeril's Tchoup Chop opened its doors in Orlando. In August 2003, Emeril's Atlanta opened its doors, followed by Emeril's Miami Beach in November. In addition to his restaurants are a series of books; his latest are There's a Chef in My Family, and Emeril's Pot Luck. Despite his success, Emeril remains devoted as ever to using fresh, top-quality ingredients and employs cottage industry ranchers, farmers and fishermen to ensure that he always gets the best. He constantly invents new cuisine, much to the delight of his regular customers and the fans of his Food Network specials and shows Emeril Live and Essence of Emeril. Emeril lives with his wife Alden, son Emeril, Jr. and daughter Meril.

My friend David was born & raised in New Orleans. If you had a conversation with him, you'd swear he was from NYC. Go figure.

                        Re: Emeril

I don't like Emeril too much. When it comes to being a real chef he doesn't fit the bill. He is more of an entertainer than anything.

The Iron Chef's of Iron Chef Japanese are real chefs. They actually have enourmous skill, expecially Michiba Sakai and even Chen. Emeril is nothing compared to these legends.

Alton is also very good. I like him because he actually aproaches cooking as a science, not to mention he really knows what he is doing. He's also quite entertaining (and I love his asian sidekick )

It is so fun to watch those guys cook up a storm. SO creative! I like both the iron chefs America AND Iron chef's Japan......I was actually thinking about that show this weekend lol....My husband took me out to Benihana for dinner and our chef looked like one of the Japanese Iron chefs.....(no, I didnt eat rice I was a good girl!
