  • No eggs or cheese - it worked!

    Hi all,

I was struggling to lose. In an attempt to determine what was not working, I was mixing things up a bit.

Finally I have found what was stalling me - the large huge amount of eggs and cheese I was scoffing. I only have a bit of cream cheese now and have been egg free (lol) for a week.

I'm not sure why this has made a difference but the weight is falling off! Yippeee!!!

I'm glad the weight is moving. Our stats are about identical except that I'm 2 inches shorter than you are! LOL - Right down to the smoke-free bit (although the smoke free stuff is my 2nd time around with it).

A "large huge amount" of *anything* will stall you! We're limited to 3-4oz of cheese a day, and the eggs have to be counted as .6 grams of carb each (I round up to 1gram), so it has potential to be an easy place to go overboard, for sure.

Again, congrats on your success so far

congrats on your fix. So do you think y9u are becoming egg intolerant? you can experient with it some and see what adding egg every other day does to you if you want. But like Brook said huge amounts of anything eatten will stall you.

Remember Atkins works cause he limits our carbs and we limit the amount of proteins and fats based on our hunger being satisfied. that is one of the hardest lessons to learn.

        Felix,

I am super glad that you have fixed your stall! Awesome job on figuring out your body. Isn't it weird how it all works differently for each person.

I have problems with cheese as well. Anything over 2 ounces in a day and I'm stalled.

That's great Felix, I'm glad you found what was and was not working for you in order for you to lose weight! Just curious to know what you are eating instead of eggs and cheese? Inquiring minds want to know!

Re: No eggs or cheese - it worked!

              Hi,

In terms of other foods, it's just meat, fish and veg and the odd bit of cream cheese. The cream cheese doesn't seem to cause the same problem so it could be a yeast reaction.

To get my Calcium, I take a supplement. I also read (I'm studying nutrition) the following foods are ranked as excellent and good sources of calcium.
              • Excellent sources of calcium include turnip greens mustard greens and collard greens.
              • Good sources of calcium include Brussel sprouts, cabbages and asparagus.
I would never recommend cutting out dairy unless you think you may have a problem with it - an intolerance or allergy. I have known for many years that I hate milk. It makes me feel sick so this was a clue for me. Also, I do believe that you do crave the foods that you shouldn't touch. In my case, this was cheese and eggs.

              Hope this helps diva,

All of those veggies are on the Induction Acceptable Foods List. Another good calcium source is canned sardines.

But back to what Brook said about the cheese. It is limited to 3-4 ounces. Many cheeses are less than 1 net carb per ounce, but they are about 90-100 calories per 1 ounce. Folks tend to get into trouble with cheese (and cream!) because they think that since cheese has so little carbs they can bend Dr. Atkins' rules and eat more than 4 ounces (approximately 400 calories). The metabolic advantage of Atkins does work, but even Dr. Atkins admitted in the OWL Chapters of the book, if your calories consistently exceed your energy output, then you won't lose weight.

Cheese stalls me too. However, now that I have been using fitday and see what caloried are coming from, I tend to eat less anyway! More room for other lower calorie foods

I too have been watching my cheese and egg intake. I think they stall me as well

Cheese is a MAJOR staller. Avoid it whenever you can.

I've not eaten as much cheese as usual the last few days and I weighed myself today and I finally lost some more I know I feel better but its nice to be able to see the results... shame about the cheese though, it's so yummy...
