Just to be sure, I was gonna extend my induction some as my wife wants to do this now to starting tomorrow when my 14 days ends. I was 251 or so and today is 13 days and i'm 237 so that's what...14 lbs. Ok, I feel real good and feel as though I can do another 14 days. Iv'e done induction over the years several times for a month at most with NO carbs at all (the old school way) with great results with the exception of fatigue, (deserved it too! lol) so, would it be good to continue the new way for another 14 days to help coach her some? Why do you all recomend that some people go further? what are the common reasons? thanks Roo!

Re: Just to be sure
The most common reason for longer Inductions is that they have lots to lose and do not mind the Induction limitations of food choice. I did EI for over a year, but I had significantly more to lose obviously. Not knowing your final numbers (if you posted what your goal weight is hoped to be, I have forgot it), it may certainly be easier to make a single meal for you and your wife. You could of course take the opportunity to show her what a successful OWL'er looks like too, but some of that depends on her resistance to the temptation. Being that the first rung of OWL is only additional veggies and trying to find your CCLL, the temptation should not be that great for her.
If you are still seeing fatigue, I'd recommend adding a few more carbs in the form of veggies back into your diet.Kent - 35-M-6'4"

Re: Just to be sure

Re: Just to be sure
So an extended induction is healthy and a choice at that? Kool I'll do it!
Kent, I have NO fatigue this time around cause this is the first time I used induction with some carbs like your 'spose to. I always did this the old school way with no carbs. I gotta figure out how to get a "ticker" on here. I have been 260 plus, I started this again at 252 I believe, and I am presently at 237 after 13 days. My goal should be what? 46 years old and slightly over 6'. I'd like to see 190 myself If i don't look ill at that! Actualy I am not really over weight, I am and I'm not, I'm built like a football player and I can still jump a 4 foot fence??? LOL I have fought hitting the 300 mark all my life as many in my family are near 400! i scaved the big "300" by inducing ketosis many times over the years, 3 times a year I would say. I am currently very interested in not "yo yoing' and moving into the maintainance phases of this world.

Re: Just to be sure
Then I would definitely start the move to OWL and figuring out your CCLL. If you want to put a ticket in your signature or just have a signature, go to User CP (menu option at the top). Then, you'll need to click on User Signature. http://www.tickerfactory.com is one of the more common tickers used here, and they'll provide you the HTML code to paste into the Signature block (or you can just simply type out a signature in there).Kent - 35-M-6'4"

Re: Just to be sure
Rooster,
I am on EI and plan to stay there until I hit 199. Then, I will consider adding in some other rungs for the sake of variety.

Re: Just to be sure
I'm going into my fifth week of induction this week and am planing on staying in induction for six weeks in total. I really don't mind the food and feel fine, but like you am mostly still in it to support my partner who has made a lot of mistakes and has not yet managed a cheat free two weeks so am trying to help him out.
Anyway I think you should do what feels right and if you feel fine then there's no reason not to do an extended induction IMOSW 145* / CW 145* / GW 108*I think... trying to avoid the scales due to general inability to cope with any gains without reaching for ice-cream

Re: Just to be sure
I'm not a huge fan of long, extended inductions. I'm a firm believer in our body's ability to acclimate to things all too quickly - including carb levels.
I see people talk all the time about how they can't lose if they don't stay at induction or close-to-induction levels, but they've been there for forever. Me? I can lose 1-2lbs a month at 65+ grams of carb a day and still do just fine. Of course my goal was never to lose weight fast...just once (said the girl who hit goal and regained 20lbs after 3 years).
You're talking about a 50lb loss in the next 7 weeks?! Egads. Please. Be careful. I understand that the temptation for rapid weight loss is great, but your health needs to be your first concern. You're coming up on a time when the rapid weight loss honeymoon is going to be over and the real work is going to begin. Don't let it discourage you.
Goal dates are great and something to strive for, but 7+lbs a week?!
I wish you success.

Re: Just to be sure
Sounds nuts I know...Gotta race comin' up and well, 225 would even be nice. I won't get discouraged but thanks for the support. With my wife jummpin' on board now and working my own goals and things with this I would rather work with her as one than do two programs cause she won't hardly give in to the homework involved so I gotta do it! uug! It's just easier to do the induction with her and eat the same things too.
Yeah!!! I got a "reppie"!.....ah... what's that? hahahh. Is that a "badge of value" here?

Re: Just to be sure
I'm an extended induction/modified OWL kind of person and I plan to stay there for some time. It's served me very well, and it allows me to try rotating different foods into the menu without throwing me out of ketosis. I'm actually doing extended induction but I'm rotating foods from the OWL rungs in very slowly (1 food, 3 times a week to see if it adversely affects me). This is modified OWL, and it has helped me pinpoint some food intolerances while keeping me on the straight and narrow. You could, perceivably, lose 40 pounds in 2 months, but it would be extremely taxing on your body and potentially dangerous. I'd be on the safe side and shoot for between 10 and 30.
