  • What are your Experaments???

Ok lets talk experiements! Some are and some are

I made one this morning. I was starved and dropping my 14 year old at school because they had a late start. He wanted a candy bar... He is very tall and thin and doesn't share my problem.

Well I got home and was starved and remembered about the flax recipe for crackers I had seen. (I had already tried the chyan paper on it and liked it. Even though it ended up being a bit............well more like a tortilla. So I pealed it off the wax paper and I used it for my tuna salid!) mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

So this morning I made the flax and put some cinnamon in it. When it was done, I put alittle butter, sweetner and cinamon on top and rolled it. mmmmmmmmm it was good. Kind of like cinamon toast or a roll, I also put a little pat of butter on top.

Butttttttttttt I am doing something wrong, why wont it get hard like a cracker like I have heard people say? Am I using too much water? I have cooked it for about 3 minutes. Please help me it might be better if crunchy I think.

Also what are some of your experiments??? (I also had the left over fajita chicken and pepers in my eggs with cheese this morning) yum

Oh and what elese can be done with flax?

Sounds like you need to either use less water, or zap for longer.

are you using not2lates recipe for flax chips? it is equal parts water to flax and then spread out thin on the paper. parchment paper works real good. you should be using 1T of each.

the cinnamon ones should be in the recipe data base too.

you can add herbs and make them savory for your tuna too.

Around the holidays last year I experimented with unsweetened chocolate and stevia. ...sigh....what a waste of perfectly good chocolate.....

So the dough should be thiner? I made a thicker dough and it just makes it tortilla like. So perhaps more water? I will search for the recipe.

I did make it yesterday and add less water and cinamon in the mix. Then when done, I did my butter on the top so the sweetner would stick. The an extra pat of butter. It worked out better and tasted like a cinnamon roll. I had it with coffee. Not too bad!

I think that it goes with tuna salid much better though. I think one could probably experiment with what spice you added to the dough too.

If you are on induction, so using flax for 'bathroom problem' solution - the whole recipe (with 4 T of flax) would be over the "start at 1 T and increase if needed" rule.
For using flax as a 'normal' ingredient you need to wait till you have reached the nuts/seeds rung.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I make this all the time, and I LOVE it!! It's great to use for sandwiches, both closed or open face. Mayo and tomatos...mmmmmm....
Now that I'm in OWL, I like it with peanut butter.
I will slice it into 3 or sometimes 4 slices and it'll last me a few days, because as Elizellen says, the whole thing exceeds your flax limit.
