  • I HATE Week 3

I really do hate week three of induction! I lost 16 pounds during my 14 day induction, now in week three - NOTHING.

I know a lot of other people have had the same thing happen to them. What I am wondering, is for those who had a big loss in the first two weeks and then nothing in week three, how much did you lose in week four? Please give me some hope! Thanks.

    Re: I HATE Week 3

make friends with your tapemeasure if you haven't already you are still morphing your body losing fat mass adding muscle mass and the fluid mass is in a stat of flux. you are going to see inches leaving even when scales don't validate your hard work

What you are experiencing is so common it has a name I call it post induction weight loss hesitation but others call it PISS for post induction stall syndron but it is just a frustrating hesitation not a 4 week no loss of inches nor pounds Dr Atkins definition of a stall.

keep drinking your water, eating your Atkins, doing your mandatory exercise part adn you too will be a big loser.

    Happy low carbing.

      Re: I HATE Week 3

I know you asked for people who had a big weight loss in the first two weeks of induction to reply, but I thought I'd go ahead and respond even though I'm not sure I qualify as one of those people, but hey, I'll take what I can get, lol.

This is the second time I've done Atkins (shame on me) and this time is going exactly like the first time. Both times, I lost about 5 or 6 pounds during the first two weeks of induction, nothing in week three, but in week four (which I just completed this time) I lost 2 pounds. If this time continues like the last time, there will be weeks where I lose 2 to 3 pounds and then weeks where I lose nothing, or next to nothing. There may even be a week where I am up a pound. But, the good news is, the inches go even if the scale doesn't go down. I've lost more inches than pounds in the 5 areas I am measuring, and could probably add to that if I was measuring other areas. For me, I think alot of it comes down to how much water I am drinking, as I don't change my eating habits much at all and I am exercising the same (6 days a week). Remember, everyone is different. Try not to get frustrated and drink, drink, drink your water!! This does work and I could just kick myself for ever going off of it the first time. I won't let that happen again.

      Good luck!

        sofarsogood,

Hang in there! One thing is for sure, Atkins works. There is no reason to be discouraged and don't be a scale slave. That is a big thing for me. I know that if I am doing what I am suppose to be....that I am burning fat thus losing pounds/inches...which is the result that I'm going for. A healthier me.

For me, I feel GREAT when I am doing Atkins! I feel I'm in control of me!

Also, read the boards for inspiration! There are a lot of people who can really help!!
        Good Luck!

          Re: I HATE Week 3

Thanks everyone. Four things to think about: PISS, tape measure, water, and no scale. This definately helps.

I usually jump on the scale every morning, but I haven't been on it since Wednesday because I was getting discouraged. Now I notice tonight that I really feel different (eg. collarbone and jawbone seems more pronounced).

I'm going to weigh myself tommorrow morning because that's three weeks exactly and see what happens. I'll also take my measurements - since I haven't done that yet. Then I'll only record my numbers every Saturday.

I MUST NOT BE A SCALE SLAVE!

Yep, it's a pretty commen phenomenon...there's a sticky about it...
            http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5090

I think I went up a few pounds in week four...lol...but then it levelled out to losing a couple of pounds a week at a fairly steady rate.

In a few months you won't even remember week 3, so don't worry about it. Just accept that sometimes your body needs to pause and think things over.

              Re: I HATE Week 3

Well, I panicked for nothing. After not weighing myself since Wednesday - This morning i was down to 155.

I'm so glad to be able to come here and read what has worked for everyone else so that I'm able to do the same things and get GREAT results. I have DANDR, but without this forum I don't know if I would have stuck to induction so strictly.

              Thanks again to everyone.

I had the same thing happen also. I lost the first week and a half and then stalled for two. It was around week 5 I had lost another 5lbs - just hang in there!!!!

                  Weigh to go. WHOOO HOOO!!!

Make a day every week or two that you weigh. I find if I do that....I don't go nuts over numbers. I know its working by the way I feel. I feel good because of the food I eat and the exercise!
