  • Am I Straving Myself?

    Okay you all have given my great advice before......and now I need it once again.

    So I am on week the infamous week three and am worried that I am starving myself.
    I am just not hungry...EVER!
    I am drinking my water (though not consistantly) and exercising. I just changed my exercise routine at curves from five days to three days a week, to give my muscles a rest. I have gained three pounds in the last week, but I don't know where it is coming from. I finally went to the bathroom for the first time in three weeks. I don't think that I was constipated, just not eating enough.

    So here's what's happening. Today I had water, coffee and a few slices of salami. I am getting ready to have a hamburger pattie and green beans. In a couple of hours I will probably have some pepperoni slices and cheese. Then off to bed. I try to eat every six hours, but eating for me is what you just read....very light snacks.

    I also take a multi-vit and two fiber choice chewable tablets per day.

    Am I headed for trouble?

    Starving yourself will not help your weight loss...

    Hello Mama,

    I am indeed no expert so I am sure someone can come along and give better advice, but I will give it a shot. First, I know not drinking the water can cause a stall, plus you need it to keep you body "running" so to speak. Also, I am not sure about your salami and pepperoni, but you might check it to make sure it is not full of nitrates and sugars. Also, I am not sure if your coffee is decaf or not, but the book says that caffeine can stall some people. Finally, the ladies and gents around here would tell you to be more specific in the amounts you are eating. I hope I have helped a little and done no harm. I am sure someone who knows more will come along soon to offer advice to you.

      If you're eating pepperoni/salami and other prepared meats, you're taking in alot of sodium which could cause water weight. Also, cheese stalls, so I would limit that.

      More allowed veggies would be great! And you may not need the fiber pills if you eat enough of them!

      I also wouldn't eat before going to bed.

        Thanks to both of you.....I was just checking carb content on pepperoni and salami...hadn't thought to look for nitrates/sugars/salt. And yes, I have also been slacking on the vegies and water. Also, I am a habitual night snacker I always get good advice on this forum, Thanks!!

          Congrats on your weight loss, first of all.

          Have you begun to lose inches yet? I remember reading your posts and you said you lost 20 lbs without losing inches. Maybe you're in the "infamous week three" because your body is catching up to the water loss? That is, you're beginning to burn the fat, and not lose the water? I'm not sure, but that may explain a bit.

            Sounds like you need to do a refresher on the Rules of Induction and the Acceptable Foods list!
            Go back and re-read the chapters on Induction and shake up your menu a little bit. Tweak the vegetables so that you are eating the amounts you need to be eating, work on being consistent with your water, and switch up the salty processed meats for some tuna, salmon or egg salad...or make a big batch of meatballs and snack on those dipped in ranch dressing.

            We all need to tweak things up every once in a while so we don't get bored, and so we don't find ourselves falling out of the groove.
