I have been having trouble latley. I cant seem to kick myslef back in gear. I have been doing the diet since august and have been trying to follow extended induction ever since. Latley I have been having such bad sugar cravings and I cant seem to get passed 142-144 lbs. I need to start exercising and drinkng my water again but im so demotivated. I havent had a big cheat yet but I see that I am slowly starting to lose my discipline. For example I find myslef breaking off little pieces of things I know im not suppose to eat and eating them!...Which I never would have even went near when I first started the diet and hoidays havent helped. Im so scared of slipping back into my old ways and I will if I keep this behavior up!! So I decided that I am going to do two weeks of clean induction start exercising drinking my water and writing down what I eat so theres no room for little cheats. But does anyone have advice on how to start losing again. Im about 10 lbs (give or take) away from my goal weight and the pounds are coming off VERY slowly. Once I reach about 132 I dont mind howslow the rest comes off... (I would like to eventually weigh 120)....so if anyone has any encouraging advice please share. I could use a little motivation

Re: starting to slip up!!!
my GOD... did I type this????? I've been ashamed to come here lately... here's why... been stalled at the 142-146 range since SEPTEMBER!!! couldn't exacty get it together....
now.. I've gained back to about 152 after a bout with FOOD poisoning... (food court at mall)..... (the only hing I've been able to keep DOWN for 2 weeks is applesauce, popsicles, jello, saltine crackers... and it was dr. orders)
anyway.... I'm not worried too much... maybe that HUGE setback was just a way to give myself a second chance.... to start again... not sure exactly whether to do induction....... been trying to ease my way back into the atkins food without the stomach problems (still on meds)
anyway.. my goal weight... my stall weight... all the very same!!
so...... I didn't help motivate you very much..... but I've been feeling so down... and ashamed... but YOU gave me motivation to try to get it back.... (can't stomach much fatty stuff yet.... except swiss cheese.... and broccoli..a little meat... ).. but I WILL get it back!
hey.. at least you're still AT the 142-144 mark... unlike me who blimped up to 152!!!!2-15-10 194.8 - highest ever!
2-20-10 190.4 - new scale
3-20-10 177.8 - 1 month
5-10-10 169.8 - 25 pounds gone!

Re: starting to slip up!!!
If you have been following induction for a long time it might be time to move on to OWL now.
Dr atkins says we should be on premaintenance phase to lose our last 5-10 pounds, so you really ought to be experimenting with adding the first OWL rung (5 net carbs of induction-legal veggies first) and find your CCLL and whether any foods are likely to upset your body now - otherwise you might arrive at goal still on induction-level eating!
From this board I gather that those who do this tend to be the ones who slip off once they reach goal weight, as they have no idea what effects adding the OWL foods will do to themselves and cannot make sensible maintenance food decisions!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: starting to slip up!!!
I totally agree with Elizellen. If you are within 10 pounds of goal you should be working your way up the OWL ladder so you are prepared to deal with this as a lifetime way of eating.
Remember that each little bite of this or that that you take messes with your blood sugar a little bit and causes you to want to have another little bite...remember that carb roller coaster that most of us used to have day passes on? You're inching back to that same situation. I think you know that already but it bears mentioning.
As you work through OWL, keep in mind that you are expanding your horizons, and look forward to adding in each new food. You're paving the way to a bigger variety of food, and a day when you are able to have the occasional bite and not panic about it.

I actually had 3 slices of fried potato today and was happy with that small taste, when BA (before Atkins) I would have 'needed' a whole portion! Now I am waiting to see if I have an intolerance to them or start craving things!
Although I thought the roasted slices of sweet potato we had the other day were much tastier!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: starting to slip up!!!
alot of the times our cravings come back when we are having a hard time getting past a certain weight. Thats why stalls where we lose people the most. Its a mind game, and thats why I believe that the hardest part of this way of life is not the beginning, but the middle and end.Latley I have been having such bad sugar cravings and I cant seem to get passed 142-144 lbs.FIRST GOAL:Lose7% BF

Re: starting to slip up!!!
those sugar cravings are a symptom have you added any new to you foods? any foods changed formulas?
figure it out ant trhey will go away
Move to OWL and refresh you Atkins experience with new challenges finding out what of the foods for each rung you can have and which your body will not handle. many folk think moving will stop their weight loss but adding 5 more net carbs of those yummy induction veggies could be just the thing you need, Espeically if you are deficient in any micronurtriant because of your poor food choices.
And you know that exercise is a key component of your Atkins so with the new Yr join an execise challenge and get some company for sharing your misery er glee at sweating and sore muscles

Re: starting to slip up!!!
the foods for the first part of OWL are more of those induction veggies 5 net carbs worth to the 3 cups you are already having.
you really don't need to do 14 days just a few to get your ketosis going and then move on. the 14 days was an inital thing to WOW you with how well Atkins worked and to allow you to discover your CCLL range, and your metabolic resistance type.by the book atkinseer
