  • Question about Cheese...

I've been eating the "Babybel' brand of cheese during induction...anyone know any info if I should be eating this kind of cheese or not? I guess because of the small pre-portioned option it was making it easier for me to take to work or something...

I'm thinking of not eating it for some reasona nd just buy a regular cheddar or something...

thanks for your input in advance!

    Re: Question about Cheese...

okay stick with me on this

your cheese is a French version of Dutch Edam cheese. the difference is the french is aged longer 6-18 months for the french, less then 17 weeks for the dutch

so the nutritional info should be the same

    Edam cheese, 1 oz. (28g)
    Calories: 101
    Protein: 7.1g
    Carbohydrate: 0.405g
    Total Fat: 7.9g
    Fiber: 0.0g

      Re: Question about Cheese...

Dear 2big thanks for the info!

So based on that information, i cannot eat it during induction, because according to Dr. Atkins can only eat:

      cheddar,
      cow,sheep and goat cheese
      cream cheese
      Gouda
      mozzarella
      Roquefort and other blue cheeses
      Swiss

      Thanks again for the information!

        Re: Question about Cheese...

nope go read your DANDR watch the punctuation on page 125

CHEESE You can eat three to for ounces of the following fulll-fat, firm, soft, and semi-soft aged cheeses*, including :
        cheddar
        cow sheep and goat cheese
        cream cheese
        Gouda
        mozzarella
        Roquefort and other blue cheeses
        Swiss

no where does it say eat only those named types of cheese.

it says including those types of cheese. the rule is
CHEESE You can eat three to for ounces of the following fulll-fat, firm, soft, and semi-soft aged cheeses
the rest are examples of types of cheese

Chapter 18 as much as i hate that chapter words it better on page 228 rule 5 cheese ( aged full fat, soft, semi-soft) is limited to three to four ounces daily. Fresh cheese, such as cottasge cheese and famers cheese is too high in carbohydrates for induction.

              We sure do!

I think we should call her Momma Atkins or Aunty Atkins!

She's so helpful and always gives advice.
