  • Question about exercise

I have been exercising each day and wondering if you get the same benefits breaking it up (example: half hour in morning, half hour afternoon) as apposed to doing it all at the same time.

I usually break up my workouts because I dont think I could do it all at once........but if it has better benefits I would really try harder at doing it all together. Does it matter????

    Re: Question about exercise

IMHO it doesnt matter at all. Just aslong as your doing the excercise, thats what counts.

I suppose if you do do it all at once, your heart rate will go up for a longer amount of time, which will be beneficial. But bottom line, I think I would say its completely up to you. And what is the best option, timewise for you.

    I hope this helps?

      Re: Question about exercise

You probably get a better overall workout if you could do a longer session, but heck, exercise is beneficial no matter when or how you do it!!

Congrats on being so committed! That's terrific!

        Re: Question about exercise

I think in the beginning it doesn't matter but when you are further along in this way of life it will matter. your body will become used to the split and may become a bit lazy. a good idea would be to change your exercise routine every month to sort of "shock" your body so it will work harder for you.

          Re: Question about exercise

I'm with Richt on this one. As long as you're getting in it, who cares?!! I've read a lot of things that say that breaking it up is just fine.

The only draw back I can think of is that cardio-wise you probably won't build up as much endurance doing two 20 minute sessions vs one 40 minute session - but I believe that for fat burning you'll burn close to the same amount regardless.

Good for you for making it a priority and getting it done!!

                Re: Question about exercise

well actually there have been scientific studies on that exact question.Ror weight loss purposes (not training nor just weight loss) if you break up your workout into smaller units of 20 mins (so your 30 mins is coverd there too) you get more total cals burned for the day cause you get the after workout burn 3 times a day and not just once.

So if you aren't training for some sporting event and just doing it for fatburning then yep you well get the same and actually better benefits breaking it up.
