  • Masive Headaches

OK tommorow makes the end of the 2nd week.I started getting headaches about 1 week into Atkins and still getting them real severe. They start in the early afternoon and gradually get worse through the day and night.I really am not sure if this is Atkins related since I didnt start getting them until a week into the diet.I just cant figure out what else it could be.Pain relievers dont even help. Also a couple of times I have noticed ringing in my ears and a bit of lightheadnesses nothing as bad as the headaches though.HELP

These goals maybe pushing it but I am gonna give it my all.

    Re: Masive Headaches

How are you doing on your carb intake? - Are you eating close to 20 grams and are you spreading them throughout the day? - Doing so regulates blood sugar - no peaks, no valleys. If I don't spread them out I find I'm a lot more headache prone.

Did you give up caffeine and/or aspartame too? That'll do it for some people as well.

When I got the headaches, the only thing it did was make me mad - mad to know that my body was that dependant on junk food/garbage to make me go through withdrawals like that! Grrrr.

I'm also curious as to how much water you're drinking and if you're taking supplements. Not enough water/ too much water can both cause headaches.

I'm sorry you feel so yucky

It is that time of the month...lol...could that be it.I think I just messed up.I was doing a little experiment to see if my headache would go away.I just gave in to a bowl of brown rice.Hoping that will make this headache leave so I can at least get some work done. This is the 1st time I ate something not on the induction list. And the last. Thanks

yep Atkins can mess your hormones cause estrogen is stored and made in fat cells too.

are those hot flashes coming after you eat? if so it may be you are allergic to something new n your diet you are eating.

                  Hi
I am thinking my headaches are comming from the Splenda.Im cutting out the Splenda for a few days and see what happens.Im trying to do the process of elimination. But the link I found on the SPlenda was talking about some peoples side effects they have had and I actually have many that were mentioned.SInce the headaches started right after I started using the Splenda.Lets see if this works...Thank You!

I hope the splenda is your problem, it is easily given up.
Be sure and keep a watch on your BP too. High BP can cause so many problems, like kidney damage, stroke to name a few.

Mmm - I can't do any artificial sweeteners, they all, including Splenda, all do nasty things like give me headaches.

Also a bunch of nice Atkins foods, especially certain cheeses and most nuts, can cause nasty headaches if you are susceptible.

Using Splenda in my icetea caused my BP to shoot up, which in turn caused me to also have really bad headaches and body swelling.
