  • I found something

    Hi again,
I was doing a little investigating and decided to check up on the Splenda I started using. The headaches seemed to have started right around the time I started getting the headaches. Also when you click on this link scroll down to the bottom there is a list of symptoms I have had as well that I usually DO NOT have. For Ex. Headaches,Lightheadeness, ringing in the ears and blurred vision(which I just assumed I was sleepy and tired)but maybe this could be the cause.Im going to cut the Splenda out for a few days and see what happens. Thanks Again. Here is the link.

Ok now I realize aspartame is not splenda....but also there is another link that I posted about suculose.

I had not read that article before but when I started Atkins I tried Splenda and it gives me headaches so I cut it out, and the headache went away.

That article talks about aspartame, not splenda, or at least I didn't see it. Aspartame is bad stuff, give me headaces too, and Dr Atkins advises staying away from it. But Splenda is made from sugar, and I have never had any problems with it. Splenda is not aspartame.

Ok The first link I posted was the wrong link the 2nd link I posted is the right one.But no matter which one I think any kind of artficial sweetner depending on who you are could give you the same side affects. Both I listed can cause serious side affects.Im just narrowing my options down. Thanks

                Re: I found something

I haven't experienced any issues with splenda either. I prefer using splenda over Nutra-sweet or the pink one : )

"Its made from sugar so it tastes more like sugar..." can you tell the advertising works on me? : )

Me too... That'd be easy to eliminate from your diet and if your headaches go away then maybe you'll stay motivated to stick to Atkins!
Started Atkins on December 8th, 2005

                      Re: I found something

I think I have seen posts from a few of our members who ARE affected by Splenda, so maybe you are one of those unlucky ones who cant eat it. Though perhaps not so unlucky, as having sweet things regularly is not the best idea anyway, so at least you will have an incentive for giving them up altogether
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
