  • Would you eat this on induction?

Hey...Ok, so last night my kids and I made these really yummy personal sized pizza's, and although the "pizza crust" we used seems ok I wanted to get the pro's opinion's.

It's from a company called La Tortilla Company; it's a whole wheat low-carb/ low-fat garlic & herb tortilla (you can buy them plain or with other seasonings). On the pkg it says you can use them for wraps, quesadillas, burritos, chips, pizza crust, toast, crepes, quiche cups, etc... So I thought it sounded great and picked up a pack of 10 for $3.99... Surprisingly, they taste really good!

    Here's the break down:

    serving size - 1 tortilla (36g)

    calories - 50

    total fat - 2g

    saturated fat - 0g

    polyunsaturated fat - 1g

    monounsaturated fat - .5g

    choloesterol - 0mg

    sodium - 180mg

    total carbs - 11g

    fiber - 8g

    sugars - 0g

    protein - 5g

You probably don't need all that info, but I'm anal that way ... 3 net carbs doesn’t sound bad… However I’m just not sure. Especially after entering my food/ exercise on fitday today (for the 1st time) and realized that I must be eating way more than 20 carbs a day… I’m determined now to add up everything on fitday and stay under 20 carbs!!! I’m annoyed with myself because who knows how much more weight I could have lost! Ugh @ me!!!

    Thanks in advance…

I've got to say that I wouldn't use that while on Induction. The words "Whole Wheat" were a trigger for me. Grains don't come back into this WOE until later on. I could be wrong there, but that's been my interpretation. The 3 net carbs sounds good though!

I wouldn't worry too much! You've been doing great so far!

I'm sorry to tell you -- no its not induction friendly.

There are a lot of ways to make pizza that is legal.

Take a tomato and slice it, sprinkle some cheese and put your fav pizza toppings, and italian seasonings on it and put it in the oven for a little bit.

There is also a recipie for Biker Goddess's Pizza. I'll go look for it.

Thanks Rick! I totally didn't even think about the whole wheat thing... You're probably right,lol... too bad though, they sure are yummy... lol... That should be enough reason for me to stay away, they go down way too easy!

Bmeade8, which carb counter are you using? Post a link?

Re: Would you eat this on induction?

one thing you need to remember is just cause something says low carb it doesn;t mean it is okay for Atkins low carb. those are fine when you get to the grain rung of OWL ig you want them again.

Re: Would you eat this on induction?

For me, I"m pretty strict with the rules of induction. Nowhere does it say that we can eat "low-carb" grain products. In fact, we're not suppose to eat grains at all during induction. I guess it depends on whether you want to have a "clean" induction or not. Just being under 20 grams of carbs is not enough for me. The carbs I eat must come from the acceptable foods list. Just my 2 cents.

Please keep a copy of the wallet sized Acceptable Foods list on hand so if you are out and about you can tell at a glance what is allowed and what isn't.

I know, I know! lol I totally spaced it about the whole wheat thing, I just saw the 3 carbs and was like "oh yay!" ... lol...
Moochie, I sooo need to print one of those pocket sized induction lists out but every time I've tried it comes out all funky. Hubby's been out of town but when he come's back I'll make him figure it out for me...
Thanks for the tips guys, as usual ya'll are great!
