i know that diet rite is at least semi-acceptable as it has no caffiene and is sweetened with splenda. i've considered allowing myself to have one on occasion when water gets too boring (coffee and tea have never really done much for me). my question is, i know you're supposed to have no more than 3 servings of splenda and count each packet of splenda as a carb, but how do you count the soda?

Re: diet rite
Count it as 1 serving of splenda. I really wouldn't worry about it too much though if I were you.
You have to drink your water and diet rite is a diruretic. Thus, it is MY opinion that you need to actually substract the 12oz of diet rite from your water. If you do that it should *NOT* affect your weight loss.
I feel the same about coffee - you can drink it on this diet as long as you drink enough water to cover the diruretic loss.5'9.5" - 25/m - On/Off since Oct '03

Re: diet rite
I recall seeing a thread stating one can of soda (with splenda) should be counted as 1.5 carbs. If you're induction, every one of those carbs counts. I'll see if I can find that source.
Edit: here's one of the links. This is a post from 2Big, she knows here stuff!

Re: diet rite
thanks biogeek. i never use artificial sweetener and generally hover between 10 and 15 carbs a day, so the counts shouldn't be a problem if i do decide to indulge (there's been an unopened 12-pack of diet rite in my fridge for about 3 weeks). however, guessing about amounts is a slippery slope i'd rather not go down. thanks for the info.

I have natural sparkling mineral water or soda water. Put a slice of lime or lemon to liven it up. These liquids must be ADDITIONAL to your minimum 8 glasses of H20 per day.Odille
