  • not enough fats??

    HI,

    again more doubts...

    Can it be that im not eating enough fats??

    I know we need them.I read also that cheese can slow you down, so Im not eating as much as I did before...

    so here is f. ex. what I ate yesterday.


    3 slices of gouda cheese. +/- 50 grs.


    salmon and lettuce

    small steak and lettuce.


    Im awfully afraid of eating more and gain back the few kilos I lost already. But I have the feeling Im not eating enough and Im not getting enough fats.

    can anyone help me with this???

    The best way to tell would be to set up an 'account' (free) at www.fitday.com and enter all the details each day to see how your figures work out.

      thank you , I did as you suggested. I dont eat enough carbs, fat ... ( 1550 calories a day..and I thought I was overeating...)

      now my doubt: in the calorie breakdown I have more or less 70% fat.
      but my totals are 107 gr fat 108 gr. protein.
      So 70% of my energy comes from fat.
      Is that ok?

        The numbers will fluctuate from day to day and that's fine. You just want to make sure they don't stay consistently high or consistently low.

          It is just that since I only lost around 2 pounds in a week I start to wonder if im doing things right.

            Eleonore, I know it is hard when you see people posting that they have lost double figure pounds on induction then continue to lose similar amounts after that when you are 'only' losing couple in a week - but all of us will lose weight differently.

            Those of us with over a hundred pounds to lose who do a strict Atkins induction might lose 15-20 pounds in those first 2 weeks, whereas someone with 20 to lose might only lose one or two pounds in that time.

            One of our former admins lost absolutely nothing on induction (she had 40 or so to lose if I recall correctly) but continued with the Atkins WOE and moved up the OWL ladder and got to goal and is still happily maintaining her goal weight several years later.

            How much weight did you lose in your 14 first days on induction?
            How long have you been on extended induction?

            Are you sure you are eating only food from the induction list? Maybe you can post your fitday url to the 'review my menu' forum for some knowledgeable suggestions?

              Thank you for the replies and the support.

              Today I got up to another surprise..I was almost 2 pounds up.

              I know I know this can happen. But Im so down right now.

              Im cutting the cheese and my mug of coffee a ay.

              What scares me is that my body is used to periods of starvation. Till 2004, I had only been big big once because I always ate less than normal ppl.

              And even now, after having gain almost 30 kilos due to an implant and depression I kept my carbs low.

              I ate pasta once or twice a week, I only had dark bread. I had a chocolate or a dessert a week....

              Im afraid that since Im used to live with little I just wont lose any weight.
              Im afriad that when I started induction it was something new that my body didnt know how to react to, and I lost a few pounds, and that now somehow it has find a way to hold on to the fats and the few carbs I eat.

              what an awful way to start a week...

                Please dont go on the scale everyday. When I did that i havegotten as much as 10 pound differences. Why _ water, content and when I did get the higher it meant a lost was coming.Do fit day, and do it truthfully, you can post your link so others can see it and help you with what your eating. Sometimes we dont see that we need to change, The people here are great and will help. Please dont stop the diet! Did you measure your self. During my induction I didnt lose alot but I lost 8 inches. Yes I rather see the scale go down, esp at my weight. But what can I do. Look at the exersise challenges and join one. I did, and it is making me go on the treadmill everyday.

                  I joined the treadmill chalange.
                  And no im not giving up.
                  It is just a bad day today, it has been snowing for 24 hours, it is dark and I cant drink coffee.

                          I brought this thread up again because, as usual, I need help. Im not reaching the 20 gr. of fat a day.


                          here is my fitday link. It is not complete but I eat almost the same everyday.
                          I started induction again, I was a bit lost and falling of the wagon. I need a fresh start. I know it is not the smartest thing to do.

                          Any way can anyone give me some suggestion on what I can eat to get more carbs?

                            Eleanor,

                            I notice you're having alot of aspartame sweetner. For some people, Aspartame will completely stall their weightloss. I'd cut that out completely for a week and see how it goes.

                            Also, you're not getting near enough carbs in. In your 1 cup of lettuce, you probably aren't even getting to one full carbohydrate. Add another cup of tomato, cucumber, onion, herbs, mushrooms, radish, something...to get more carbs in. OR add some of those veggies to your scrambled eggs in the A.M.
