I'm trying to stick with extended induction for as long as possible so I know that the induction veggie list is what I need to go by. That being said, I was at a party last night and indulged in a wonderful spicy dip - questioned the cook as to the ingredients and the only non-induction/non-Atkins friendly ingredient was corn. In the amount I put on my plate I estimated there was no more than a half cup of corn which cost me 20 carbs in one fell swoop. I ate no other veggies during the day. Obviously no one would want to count a half cup of corn as their allotted carbs on a daily basis but is a starchy vegetable worth 20 carbs metabolized (is that really a word???) differently than an induction vegetable worth 20 carbs? Will it knock me out of ketosis?

Re: Veggie Question
Corn is relatively high on the glycemic index which means it easily digests into sugar. That causes a spike in blood sugar and insulin. You may have stopped ketosis briefly, and may not lose as much this week, but it's not the end of the world.

Re: Veggie Question
actually it is the blood sugar spike unstable craving control that you should have been worried about.
Since you didn't get it you are okay. next time pick ouit the corn as it is very visible in the dip.by the book atkinseer

Re: Veggie Question
The dip is made with one package (?8oz)pepperjack cheese, 1 cup mayonnaise, 2 cans corn, and some chopped black olives all microwaved till bubbly not. Crumbled bacon is then sprinkled on top. I ate it with a spoon. Everyone else ate it with Frito's scoops. Had I been all by myself I'd probably have managed to pick most of the corn out.Originally posted by not2lateout of curiosity, what were the ingredients of this dip?
