I completely cant find my copy of DANDR so i thought id ask you guys.. im on day 16 of induction (staying on induction for a good while) and was wondering what the rules are for drinking alcohol?? I havent touched any and im not really a big drinker but i have a girls night out coming up soon and i just wanted to know if alcohol is legal in any kind of shape or form?? IF so whats best to pick? i was thinking vodka with soda water? if anyone could please advise, ive read a few posts saying alcohol really impairs our eating decisions and thats a big factor of why its not allowed. Anyone out there that can answer this?

I say sell out to this diet for 8 months or more and then see what decision you want to make. Many times people experience some nice short term success, and then they start to experiment with the tool that got them there. The longer you can go on the true program, the better your chances are of reaching your goal and maintaining that goal. Just my thoughts.

          Re: Alcohol

2 weeks ago I went to a birthday party. I had eaten a meal before I left, but after one shot I was already feeling effects. I had 2 more that night and woke up 1. still drunk and 2. very sick. Usually I can drink up to 7 drinks before I'll be sick the next morning. I've never woken up still drunk before. It's not a good idea to drink without carbs. I think your body metabolizes the alcohol first. If you have to drink, no more than 2!!

I'll echo that... you feel the effects WAY more quickly when you're low-carbing. Be very careful!

                  Re: Alcohol

I am a student at university and find it VERY hard to avoid drinking in social situations, so far I have had a few big nights out, it is almost impossible to avoid. However, I am still losing weight slowly but surely. I have found no change in my resistance to alcohol as long as I eat dinner before going out. After the initial getting-to-know everyone stage I think I may tone down the alcohol misuse. I think I must burn off all the alcohol dancing for five hours in the club though! I love it!
It definitely makes me hungry though.. I usually end up giving into kebab meat (eww) or making a flax cracker late at night - at least they're legal!
Still - I'm not condoning drinking on atkins. I guess its your choice, it comes with its drawbacks.
