I am on the brink of giving up. I know we shouldnt rely on the scale , but this is ridiculous. I have not cheated at all in the 3 weeks that I have been on induction. The first time I tried atkins I did cheat and still lost 15 lbs in the first two weeks and did not work out at all. I workout an hour a day 5 days a week. Monday will be 3 weeks and as of today I have lost 3 lbs. Now I will assume ive gained muscle but I should have lost more that 3lbs on the scale shouldnt I? If anyone else has had this problem please let me know , cause I am on the edge of going to the carb side. Thanks for y'alls support.

No, not the carb side! I'm in the same boat - a very strict 2 week induction followed by 2 more weeks of extended induction. I lost about 7 pounds. Last time I was down more than twice that by now. Don't give up - the exercise is probably the biggest reason you're having a slow weightloss. Your metabolism will increase and the weight will eventually start to fall. Don't give in!

Have you checked your measurements to see if you are shedding inches of fat while your body is stuffing your tissues with water and adding muscle mass?

It is very normal to add fluid mass when you shed fat AND when you start a new to your workout program as the muscles are programed genetically to believe you are in extreme danger whn you overload them and they respond by overloading themsleves with fluids and fuel to save you from that danger. once they learn the new load will be their normal load they will release the fluids and you will get a big whooshie over night!

Are you sure you are aeting your Atkins right? how about posting a few menus so we can eyeball them and see if you got issues with foods going on.

      Hang in there.

                Re: Frustration Frustration

hey john! sorry to hear about the scale not budging. But like the others said you need to take in other things as well, such as inches lost, with all that working out surely your clothes are starting to feel a lot looser aren't they?
I think 2big is right too, you said the first time you did not work out at all and you lost weight. Well this time around you're doing it one better right? You haven't cheated and you're excersising. This time you're building muscle, which weighs more than fat, which will increase your metabolism, which will mean you can consume more calories so it will be easier to maintain you're weight or lose it!
So I guess my question is what are you planning to do if you leave? Obviously you're still not happy with you're weight and adding the evil "carb side" carbs back into your diet will send the cravings back through the roof.
Just for an example I have a friend who's husband doesn't want to do atkins fully because "its bad for you" with all the fat. But is trying to eat more low carb anyway. (yes i gave them the DANDR) He keeps cheating because he's eating to many carbs and all the wrong ones at that.
In the end its up to you, we can't force you to stay, but i'll give you my light saber sword made of bacon if you do....LOL
may the carb free force be with you

My Clothes do fit a little better. It is still very frustrating to see 3 lbs lost. Thanks for the bacon light saber I will use it to fight off the carb side. I cant give up , and I thank all of you for giving me the strength and support to keep fighting.

                    Re: Frustration Frustration

Your Doing Really Great really you are. What is happening now that you are exercising is your Body is Hording the Water it's not giving it up but those 3 Pounds are Pure fat I am guessing. As your Body adapts to your new exercise you will lose that water weight and be smaller then you would have been without the exercise it can be so increadibly frusturating for sure. I understand that because I ahve been there. I started to lift weights after my first 2 weeks of induction I lost 12 pounds I was excited. Then I started to lift breaking the muscle down causing small tears Kinda like spraining your ankle only you can't see the swelling. My Body was retaining fluid in order to repair itself. I actaully gained 5 pounds Back of the weight I lost then gradually lost that 5 pounds over the next 6 weeks but, nothing more. It was like at the 6 week mark My body had finally become accoustomed enough to my exercise that it was like of, and I got a huge weight loss. it was nice after not seeing a weight loss actually a weight gain over 6 weeks. kepp it up the weight will soon be comming off and you'll be soo happy you exercised.

I have recently just began to lift weights at high intensity again and the same thing happened I gained weight then this last week I am going into week 7 I lost all the water weight I was carrying and plus 2 pounds. So keep it up. The most coolest thing though is even know I haven't lost a bunch I have such definition and am losing a lot of inches.

looks like somebody is missing a lot of induction veggies. the list is in Chapter 11 page 126/125 3 cups a day. you are supposed to have some veggie carbs some protein and some fat each meal. We need the micronutrients in them so we can burn the fat as fuel and feel healthy.
