  • When you think about it..

22lbs gone in just over a month.. and I've only just thought about how much that actually IS in terms of weight - and it's really motivated me!

I mean something that weighs that much (almost 10kg) isn't light, it's amazing that weight's come off me! Tempted to go find something that weighs that much just to demonstrate to myself!

We buy kitty litter in 35 pound bags and I always make a point of carrying it to the car or up to the apartment. I can barely handle it...and to think I've lost 50 pounds...it just blows my mind.
I can't quite make the connection between it all...it's nuts!

That's a great point. When I had lost 75 lbs a few years ago, DH used to point out to me that I had lost as much as one of our German Shepherds weighs. I lost a whole dog! (A whole dog I can't actually carry around by myself, interestingly enough...) Can't wait to get dogless again! Hee.

It's amazing isn't it? Especially when you start thinking in terms of items like butter, or bags of potatoes. It still blows me away. I love this woe!

Hehe, yeah I love the "10lb bag of potatos" reference. You go to the grocery store and pick up a bag of oranges or potatos and you realize how bad you looked even, carrying an extra sack of potatos on ya!

Re: When you think about it..

I had about 70kg (150 lbs) to lose at the start. I was thinking one night that it equalled 3 and a 1/2 bags of the grain we used to Feed our horses. Now I could not even lift one of those bags, I could drag it, but lift it, no way. It used to take Mum and I to manhandle (or is that womanhandle?) one into the mouse proof bins we stored it in. Yet I was lugging around 3 and a 1/2 of them on my medium frame.

Re: When you think about it..

Its funny that you mention this today. I buy roughly 20 1gallon jugs of "spring" water a month from walmart at like 58c a gallon. ANyway, my apartment is on the 3rd floor and its all stairs. I carry 4 gallons at a time (2 per hand) and they weigh about 33lbs total. While it wasn't too hard ot get up to the 3rd floor, I was obviously winded, and I thought, damn, this is how much weight I need to lose to hit goal!!! I can't imagine how fit I will be again when I hit that goal. Looking at the 4 jugs I realized how fat I really am. Good but bad at the same time!

Awesome progress - 22 pounds in one month! That is an absolutely huge accomplishment. One word of caution though -- with as responsive as you are to the diet, you might want to start making plans on adding the rungs (whichever ones you are planning add bacK) to back into the diet. Congratulations again on your phenomenal weight loss..
