  • 9 1/2 lbs. lost in first week of induction

I'm new to this board but not new to Atkins, but I had a question. I have lost 9 1/2 lbs in the first week (I'm very happy about this) and I'm going to continue on the Extended induction. And no, I haven't been starving myself. I eat VERY well. I am 21 years old, 5'4, currently 198.5, started at 208 lbs. My goal is 125-130, BUT I have a wedding in July and I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has lost quite a bit of weight in so little time, or if you think it's possible to lose about 50-75 lbs in the next 4 1/2 months? I'm willing to go slow with the weight loss, I realize that is the healthier way but I really want to look extraordinary for my wedding. Would appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

Wow. Congratulations!!! On the wedding and the weight loss!! That's so terrific! I think that you seem like you have a pretty high metabolism...or atleast are definately not resistant. That's a great thing!!!

    OKay here it is..you knew it was coming ;

1.) Do you exercise? If you don't already, do it! LOL It will help you to lose and tone up your body. Would you rather lose 30 pounds and be fit and toned up (no or little jiggle) or lose 40 pounds and still jiggle? I would take the jiggle free body

2.) Are you drinking all your water? I lose more steadily when I drink a lot of water. Remember, rule of thumb is 64 oz a day, plus an extra 8 pounds for every 25 pounds you wanna lose.

3.) Do you have Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) 2002 edition? If not, get it. It will be your "Bible" so to speak. I really think that if you understand how and why your body is burning fat, you can help it do so more efficiently. JMO

4.) Is this your first time on Atkins? If it is, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't give up. I lost so easily the first time I tried. 25 pounds in the frist 2 months! I cheated and it was all down hill from there. It become progressivly harder each time you restart b/c the theory is your body gets used to it. This is some people, not all, but I don't want you to take the chance, ya know?

I think that you will do so great! Your attitude seems so wonderful and optimistic. If you expect it to go slow, that's great. If it does, you were expecting it and if it does faters, that's great too!!

I can't wait to hear from you. Welcome to ADBB!!!

Wow, thank you for the advice and support! Will follow through on advice given. Actually, I have been walking almost every day for about an hour. But I just ordered some workout vids (Yoga booty ballet and Turbo jam) Congrats on your weight loss as well! You look beautiful! You and everyone else seem so helpful and supportive, which is why I know I can do this. I'm very strong willed especially in the face of everyone else asking me if I'd like a milkshake and then remembering 2 seconds later that I am on Atkins, but I think this board may be a lot of help. I have done Atkins before but it has been quite awhile. I was successful before (in high school) but just fell off somehow. Anyway, thanks again!!

It's no problem!!! You may wanna check out the exercise challenge. They have GREAT stuff over there to keep you motivated.

Thanks so the compliments, you are so sweet. I just hope I can get my big head outta here now! LOL

Our stats are kinda similiar.l My all time highest weight ever was 208, when I was pregnant, then I dropped to 190. I am 5'2 a maybe a half, but I round up I am 20. Kinda similar. I just wish I was 5'4

LOL Have a really great day!!

Yes our stats are very similar. Well, if it makes you feel any better I wish I were taller as well. Don't we all? lol

Good look to you!! Though it looks like you don't need it, looks like you are doing extremely well.

Again, thank you for the great advice!

Re: 9 1/2 lbs. lost in first week of induction

With the loss you've had in week one, and based on your starting weight, I'd say 40lbs by your wedding is acheivable, and 50lbs is possible. Follow Stephanie's advice and keep on track.

A journal is a good idea. I use a diary and write down all food in, exercise out, and things that affect my weight loss (TOM, moods, stresses, what's going on at woirk etc). I find this very effective in keeping on track and you can review it if you stall to see if anything has changed to make that happen. Exercise is the key.

Good luck, and we'll expect wedding pics!

Thank you so much for your input and for the positive outlook!
Will def. do a journal then. I know I can do this - I just have to be patient and keep up with the exercise just like you were stressing to me.

Again, thank you so much! Good luck to you also and congrats on your weight loss so far!
