    Re: cheese and onion omlette

Milk is not allowed during induction. It's added in during the dairy rung of OWL.

You can make an omlette without the milk.

I was always taught water for omellettes! Three tablespoons for a 3-egg omellette.

Or you can use a little cream (that's what I do) or mix some cream with water, and it is the same as milk (almost)

I was taught to make omlettes without liquid, it helps them keep their shape on the 'flip over'! I love omlettes, too. They are a main staple of my diet. Try throwing some baby spinach and tomatos (just a few pieces) in with the eggs, then fill with Turkey and one ounce swiss cheese. Its delish!!!!!
What would we do without it?

              Re: cheese and onion omlette

I always thought that adding milk or water to eggs was nothing more than to "thin down the mix" so that you could make more with less. (don't know if that argument holds with the cost of milk these days!). Anyhow, am I right on this, or is there another reason to add milk to eggs?

I am with Sunflower I was taught not to put anything in my eggs to make a perfect omelet my only thing is you do not beat the snot out of your eggs just a gentil mix through ... and then take it off the burner before it is completely done so it just cooks through and is a bit creamy tasting....

                I just made one

I grew up with milk mixed with the eggs too. Even for scrambled. But I stopped doing that a long time ago. No extra liquid in my eggs.

                    Re: cheese and onion omlette

My mum always used to add milk but that was to 'stretch' the eggs ot feed more children!!

I never use milk in omelettes or scrambled eggs.

BTW do be careful if ordering omelettes or scrambled eggs in restaurants as they usually do use milk - or even pancake batter to bulk the plain eggs up!!
Only today I asked the chef at a 'Little Chef' restaurant if the omelette would be made of just eggs or not, and she confirmed they have a special ready-made mixture that they use!! I ordered grilled chicken breast instead!

So stick to fried eggs when eating out unless you know otherwise.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                      Re: cheese and onion omlette

i was taught that milk or cream is supposed to be used to make them fluffier but also should NOT be used in omlettes because it makes it break much easier if you want to flip it and not adding milk or water works just fine for me and it folds much better!
