    Hello all, I have been on induction since 2/16/06 sw 363 cw352, starting 20th day have been stuck on 352 for 5 days, I am doing as the book my avg calorie intake is 2000 - 2300 cals, is this the norm for a person with this size, I was thinking to loose 60lbs by the end of May... what do you think..help

    I think 60 lbs by the end of May of this year is a little aggressive but anything's possible.

    Are you eating to satisfy your hunger?

      Hello wannabe,, yes I am eating, I do not let myself go into staving mode or hunger, I do snack on cheddar cheese and chicken tenders or allowed leftovers.....

        Then you should be ok. You're limitting your cheese to 4 oz per day right?

          yes I only have 2 oz of it per day, what do you think of ketosis, is it real? and also if inches fall why not lbs, it is still burning fat?

            Yes, ketosis is real and you will be in ketosis if you eat according to what Dr. Atkins says.

            You may lose inches and not lbs for several reasons one being that if you're exercising, muscle is replacing fat and muscle weighs more than fat. The lbs will come in time.

              cool thanx, I have been in the pink stick most of the time, and I do go to the gym 4x a week,,,,,,,

                  You could also try the vitamins that help perk up your weight loss... also, maybe you're eating something that's slowing you down... maybe post a menu?

                  Officially Re-Focusing on 12-28-09.

                  Was, Am, Will be: 280/222/175ish.
                  Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

                  so:
                  Restart Progress:
                  12/28/09 ~ 235.1
                  01/04/10 ~ 229.0
                  01/11/10 ~ 229.0 Grrrrr....
                  (Induction= only 6lbs but lost 10 inches! yay)
                  01/18/10 ~ 227.4
                  01/5/10 ~ 226.8
                  02/01/10 ~ 222.6

                    First of all, welcome to ADBB!!!!

                    I tested my ketones three times during the day at first, until I found when they are the darkest. Then I tested at that time, from there on out.

                    Also, don't forget that the more water you drink, the lighter they maybe because it is being diluted. One day I could not drink much water and the sticks are almost black, and the next day, I drink over 100 oz and they are just pink. No Biggie. As long as you see pink, and you are drinking your water, I wouldn't stress too much.

                    As far as the calories are concerned, Wanna is right on the money. You will have days you eat less, some days you eat more. As long as your hunger is your guide, not the actual number, you are doing great!!!

                    I am the type of person that if I don't eat very much, I don't lose, maybe even gain.
                    If you are wondering your BMR, http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ will help you to figure it out. Too much of too little of anything is never a good idea.

                      Keep in mind that if the stix are really dark it could be that you just ate something high in fat...which is what Atkins is all about so it may not be a good indicator. The stix are usefull for low carb/low fat diets mostly. There are other indicators that you are in ketosis like the smell of your breath.

                        I didn't know that wanna! See that, you learn something new here at ADBB everyday! Thank so much for posting that!

                        Now that breath, I DEFINATELY have that Atkins breath! (And I brush, I swear! )

                        Have you noticed that when you workout and sweat, you smell it, too? That's my most noticable. I take like 2 showers a day sometimes!!!
